need help with alternator fast

Ok today i went pick up a new alternator for my car but it did not look the same and the guy said if this alternator doesnt work he will get another one in tomorrow of the same kind as the one I brought in. Well anyway I hooked up the alternator and when I put my positive on first then tried putting on the negative and threw a lot of sparks and burned an alternator fuse. Their are two grounds on the alternator and I tried both and they did the same thing and i had no problems bolting up the alternator either. I have a 92 eagle talon.

Sounds like you may have a 90 amp alt. which should work but obviously it doesn't. Bring it back and get the correct one.
