I want to know if anyone knows of a good place to take my car to get a new clutch and flywheel. I found one place(turbotrix.com) and they gave me a good original price($350) for a clutch replacement. But when i asked if they could also install a new rear main seal, axle seals and a clutchline they want an additional $170. Which seems crazy expensive for the amount of work it would take. I was told rear main would only take 10 minutes(they wanted $90 for that) axles was ok $30 for the pair, and clutch line they want $50 extra. So it becomes not all that good with those prices added. So that is why i am asking if anyone knows of a place that would do it for a better price. I already have the clutch, flywheel, seals, and clutchline at my house.

Please if anyone has any suggestions please let me know.

I just dont have the time to do it myself.

Ok thanks, how do i contact him and do you know where he is located? Was that price with also installing like new seals and clutchline? OR just the clutch itself? Cause i want to install also rear main seal axle seals and ss clutch line.

Ok i saw the link, but does anyone know where he is located? I couldnt see a name of a city or anything.

Damn just too far away. Have free towing for up to 100 miles, otherwise it will cost alot to tow it there. Oh well. I looked up the pricing for diamond start motorsports in blairstown, nj and they seem to be real good. Only $275 for the clutch replacement. Now i just gotta see how much they will charge to do the crankshaft seal, axle seals, and clutch line.

Does an extra $170 seem really expensive for those items to be done when the tranny and clutch are already out? That is what the first place wanted to charge, just want to confirm that that is expensive. thought it would be like an extra 30 minute job to do all those things.

Honestly IMO I don't think it's too much to pay. Especially if they gurantee their work. A rear main seal can be 30 mins or more alone.

A clutch line is probably another 30 mins. (For someone to do it properly).

When you supply the parts it leaves the installer less oppurtunities to make a profit. Seriously, if you save $50 with someone else, you get what you pay for. When that line leaks and you step on the clutch and nothing happens, you'll wish you spent an extra $50 bucks. Do you really want someone only spending 10 mins on your safety? If it's me, take 30 mins as long as I am safe. (That's why I do it myself, I don't trust anyone else...)

I've done clutches on these things. And guess what, things break on a 10 year old car. You will end up buying other parts.
Think about it, If it was really only an extra 30 mins for all of those things, would your only excuse really be that you don't have the time? I think you would do it yourself, no?

I'd pay pay the $170 and then give him a $50 tip if assured me it was safe....

Good luck!

Oh ok, still seems a little high but maybe i am wrong. I would do the other parts myself, but i dont have time to do the clutch install since i work like 50 or more hours a week, and i have never taken a tranny out either. I asked before on here and a dsm wiseman or expert i beleive stated it should take no more than 10 minutes for the rear main seal. Is that part really much harder than replacing both the axle seals? Cause he said only 30 for the pair of them, which i thought was good but 90 just for the crankshaft seal seemed so high.

Also isn't one end of the clutch line already usually taken off when you take the clutch out? I thought it was. That would mean they would re-attach that one for free so instead just attach the new one. Then it would be prety simple to attach the other end of the clutch line in a short amount of time along with good quality i would think. Once again maybe i am wrong. But like i said i guess i will just call the DS motorsports tomorrow and see what they can offer me. The clutch install is only 275 so already there i am $75 ahead, and i dont think i would be sacrificing any quality either.

Well if anyone else has any input as to if this is a good or not so good deal, please let me know. I've only had my eclipse running for 5 days after i bought it when this happened(tob went i beleive) So getting real frustrating and i just want to drive it again, without spending too many thousands. (spent 1000 on parts so far)

Ok just got off the phone with Diamond Star Motorsports in blairstown, nj. Much better price. Quoted it a total of $300 for the clutch and flywheel replacement as well as rear main seal, axle seals, and ss clutchline. Much better than 520 from that other place that was trying to rip me off. Only problem is i gotta wait atleast 2 weeks! Sucks.

Anyone know how hard and long it is to replace an input shaft bearing while the clutch and flywheel are off the car? The guy told me it might be that instead of a tob.

How the hell did you get in touch with them? They have not picked up the phone for me in a LONG time.

Tried twice second time he picked up. He said his mechanic broke his leg so he has been doing all the sales and services himself now, so been real busy and all, so thats probably why he hasn;t been picking up. Have to wait over two weeks though to get it done there.

Think that is too far away. If it is over 100 miles than i dont get the free towing, and towing is damn expensive these days. Thats like 125 miles from me i think. Is that a sponsor site?
