Hey today I went out and purchased a Fluidyne Radiator for my 97 Eclipse (Stock one broke). I have an OBX Tubular manifold and Tial FP 41mm wastegate. I have 2 questions. First, the radiator and the wastegate are nearly touching if not touching, does this mean i cannot use this setup or will it be ok just need to watch my temp? Second, for the radiator tubing on the top of the radiator; the tubular manifold is in the way of the tube if not it is touching the tube. I am pretty sure these hoses cannot take that temperature of a exhuast manifold so does anyone have any suggestions? I thought I remembered Alien Auto having something to do with that, but their site is under construction and I can’t view anything. If anyone could please help me out I would really appreciate it.

Thx
Chris

I just had this problem a couple weeks ago:

http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=239843

As far as the radiator; do you have a picture? My stock radiator allows me to have a 44mm Tial wastegate there along with (2) radiator fans. It's a tight fit, but nothing is rubbing on each other. I assumed the aftermarket aluminum radiators were thicker, but I was unsure. Post a picture if you can.

Thanks 99gst I never thought of using exhuast wrap to do it. I would like it to look a little cleaner in the long run but for right now that seems to be the answer thank you! How long have you been running it with the wrap? Let me know how you like it. Hopefully Alien Auto's site will be back up soon so I can check out what they have.

Here is a pic of the wastegate, just incase you cant tell the wastegate is just ever so slightly touching the radiator.

Paul I was just thinking I would link him to your thread, but too late:) As far as your WG touching the radiator you should be fine, maybe a bent fin or two from bumps with some scratches to the WGs blue paint. I dontthink it will be a problem so long as the WG isn't dumping on the radiator:) Get to pusher fans to put on the outside of the radiator pushing air into the radiator.

The wrap was a temp. fix. I would not recommend it as a permanent solution. I only drove the car for about 8 days, including one trip to the dyno, and it burned through 2 layers of the wrap.

I now have the Alien Auto pipe and it's great. I'll get some pics up later today.

why not make an extension pipe flanged on both ends to bring the WG down and away from the Radiator?

Get some pics up of that I just emailed alien auto requesting information on their pipe. How much did the pipe cost you?

I do not have the resources to make an extension and I like doing things on my own when it comes to fabricating parts. And I don’t feel like ripping the whole turbo/manifold setup off. But that is defiantly a good suggestion for the future thanks!

I'm in the process of moving to a new home right now, but I believe my home PC is still hooked up. If it is, I'll snag a few pics of off it during my lunch break in a couple hours.

I bought the pipe used, from a member of this site for $40 shipped.

dang if that wastegate is really touching that Fluidyne Radiator i wouldnt drive it around without make an extension away from that radiator, id hate to forget about it, hit the gas, and have that wastegate cut that expensive radiator up

Yea I agree with you, but I found out a way where I can get an 1/8th of an inch to get the wastegate away from the radiator so hopefully that will do it.

I was wondering does anyone know if a 1G radiator will fit in a 2G car? I heard that the 1g radiator has the inlet over to the passangers side of the radiator maybe I am inncorrect on this but I thought I heard that somewhere. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Yes, the inlet on the 1G radiator is located on the passenger side. I did consider putting a 1G radiator in my car to fix the problem, but I never did investigate to see if it would fit. If you do go that route, be sure to post and let us know how it worked.
