I drove my 90 GSX into the garage on Friday. I put a new exhaust manifold (stock) and turbo (14b) on. After the new parts were on I attempted to start the car and the battery was dead. I jumped it and now it won't start. The starter is working (making a high pitched whining sound) There is spark and the fuel pump is working all fuses are good. The flywheel and the cams and timing belt are spinning but it still won't start. It sounds as though there is no compression, although there is a little bit of exhaust coming out the tail pipe. There isn't any fuel on the spark plugs (but they do smell like fuel). I had a mechanic tell me it could be the wires on my temp sensor (I'm not sure how to check that) The wire is a little separated from the covering on the wire but only by about a millimeter. Any suggestions??? I'm going to try a compression test today but I'm hoping that someone out there knows what it might be. As I said before I have never had this issue with the car, it always starts right up.

The car is all stock except for the Walbro 255 fuel pump and the K&N air filter

FYI - The person that owned this before me had cut the reverse light wires. I fixed those yesterday as well. I don't think this has anything to do with the problem but figured I'd mention it.

Make sure also that you plugged in your 02 sensor . Is there anything you unhooked for saftey reasons such a ignitor or coil pack. Or maybe you pulled a fuse and you might unhook that reverse wire just to make sure that is somethin funny he was getting power to.

Well thank you guys for your help, and the links. Yesterday i performed a compression test, and the readings were as follows:

cylinder#1: 60 lbs
#2: 30 lbs
#3: 35 lbs
#4 :70 lbs

leak down:

cylinder#1: 90
#2: 60
#3: 60
#4: 110

From what i read the test would have been more affective if the car was warm but of course it wont start. So from what I gather the rings are toast. What I just dont understand is why it would happend overnight. I was replacing my turbo cause of shaft play, but im assuming the reason it wasnt boosting is because the compression was too low. I can take the car to a mechanic to confirm this but do I really need to do that? Anyway if it is what i am guessing it is I'll be stroking the engine. :)
