I got my car about 4 weeks ago it had 34,000 miles on it. I've drove it easy and I have drove it hard now and then. I also have gone to the drags with the car one time to see what it could do. When I got the car I replaced the oil which was very nasty black thick oil. It has around 37,000 miles on it at the moment so Its due for another change but it still has enough oil in it. I put new spark plugs into the car but I put the ones off the Spark Plugs page in the FAQ forums for the cars that have sligh mods to it the second ones on the recommended list. The car has 0 mods to it though. But the knock comes usually after starting it when I rev it up sometimes it goes away sometimes it dosen't until I start to drive then I don't hear it. But even when I drive it around alot and stop somewhere I can sometimes hear it doing it but others times It dosen't do it. Can anyone think something that could be wronge could the spark plugs be running to cold or something?

Thats low miles for your car, did it sit alot? Look at cleaning up your Fuel Injectors, Fuel Filter....could easly be something with the fuel delivery...at idle it might just not be getting enough gas at low rpm

You could possibly be hearing a number of different things. About where is it in the engine bay? Does it increase in tempo as engine RPMS go up? Is it lifter tick? Try to be a bit more specific. As for plugs, switch back to NGK BPR6Es, gapped to 0.028. Best to get a logger and see if it's affecting your performance.

The sound seems to come from the right side of the engine near the belts. I danno if its a lifter tick don't know that much yet. But what the first person said a few times when sitting idle the car has seemed at times to bog it idles around 500rpms but on a few occassions which I haven't really noticed lately but mabye its just because it keeps doing it, it would seem to bog kinda or just feel alittle drop in the idle.

The lady that owned it before me mabye had it sit for 4-5 weeks but with occassional small drives with it now and then since she bought a new vehicle which she regular drove while she was selling this one.

Have a buddy sit in the car and rev it. Does the temp go up as RPMs go up? How did it do at the drags? How do your belts and pulleys look? Do they ever squeak/squeal? Pay special attention to your crank pulley. Look at it from the top to detect any wobble. Other than that, I can't really help with a description of "near the belts." Try to be more specific.

Or,

Change the oil, throw in a can of Restore, report back.

Alright im going to do the oil change and spark plug change now. Also when I first start the car in the morning ususally it sqeals until I rev it up alittle then it goes away.

At the drags I ran awsome for stock I thought. My best run with a 16.01 at 92mph. Had around 2.5 60 but thats FWD for yeah. .331 R/T need to work on that one. Ill report back proble later tonite.

Thanks.

Squeal is bad. Make sure your belts are tightened correctly and that your crank pulley is not failing. Belts should be tight enough that you can only turn them about 90 degrees. Crank pulley failure isn't catastrophic, but is a pain in the ass and will leave you stranded if you're out driving about.

Will check that to on my run to the garage I tried to twist it with my hand once it was pretty tight. Ill check with a ruler this time.

Good News I hope it stays!

Today I changed the oil and filter with 5w-30 Synthetic oil. Didn't get the can of restore forgot about it at the time.

I got the NGK BPR6Es and a spark plug gap tool the circlular one.

Went and did the change on everything had very limited time I was in a hurry cause I had work. I gapped at my best to 0.28 it wouldn't slide any farther when the 0.28 was in the middle so I think its set right.

At work I delivery pizza I drove it all night and not once did I hear a knock when getting out of my car or sitting idle at a light.

I am pretty sure that the car had enough oil in it when the knock was happening I checked it very often but the dip stick on the car was not very visible the oil showed really clean and marks were hard to see.

To my guess was that with the next step up spark plugs was not getting hot enough when everyday driving and was the cause of the knock. This is just what I believe it was but mabye it was low on oil like I said I have a tough time reading the dip stick on this car.

But as of now its all good atm ill report back if it continues any time soon again.

As for the logger not yet...is all I can say. Im tring to save up for 3' turbo back O2 House elimintor exhaust for the car. Then proble the BOV and boost controller then ill hit the logger up.
