Okay my car blew a piston ring so i'm replacing the motor. I got a 1G motor, bore .20, stock 1G internals and compression, no balance shafts.

I did a lot of reading about doing the swap and this is what i've seen so far.

#1 be lazy and buy the CAS harness to hook into my ECU
#2 trim the motor mount that is by the water pump
#3 Replace the 1G alternator with my 2G alternator
#4 Use my tranny starter plate with a 1G flywheel
#5 Hook the MAP sensor up to the break booster vac line
#6 Trim the timing belt cover (not sure why yet)
#7 Engine has no AC and don't plan on putting it back in
#8 Use 2G power steering pump (already there?)
#9 Use a 2g fuel rail or a 1g fuel rail with a aftermarket regulator (the plan)

Is this ALL that is required in order to make this work?

Are there any other harness plugs on the 2G harness that need to hook up?
Do I use the 2G MAF just like I normally do?

Am I missing anything? I'll have the engines side by side on stands so I can swap everything over before I plant it into the car.

I read something about needing to grind the transfer case but other people saying thats bullshit.

Give me your experiences!

You basically use every sensor that is off of your 2g and plug them into where the 1g sensors were.

Your 2g MAS plugs in the same.

No grinding of the transfer case is necessary.

The timing belt cover will need to be trimmed as you will be using a 1g lower timing belt cover that is designed to be used with a 1g motor mount (remember you replaced it with the 2g one).

Do you have a complete 6-bolt motor? I.E. head, intake mani, thermostat housing, etc...

If so then all you would need is a lower 1g radiator hose and a 2g upper radiator hose.

I don't know if you will have this probem but my lower radiator hose ran smack into the counter weight for the shifter. The guys I know with swaps have just cut it off. No really effect on the shifting and the hose doesn't kink and more.

^ That is a common problem for some people. Because of the way some automotive shops cut the lower radiator hose, some fit and some don't. I bought 3 from various shops and used the one that had enough length on the top to clear the counterweight. Shop around and see what works for you, or hack off the counterweight, or buy the flexable radiator hose from JC Whitney.
