hey guys. I came accross a turbo on ebay that just looks to good to be true. It is a gt35r ball bearing turbo, FOR ONLY 300-400 DOLLARS. This just seems unbelivalbe so i am asking you guys if anyone had gotten one of these turbos. The user on ebay selling them is named Turbos. The ebay item number is: 230029133686
I messaged the guy selling them and asked him who made these turbos and he said that they had garret internals with standard housings. Has anyone heard anything about this? I really want to bid on this turbo and pay a fraction of what they normaly cost but it just seems to good to be true. Any opinions are also welcome.
Thanks

You have a link? Yes its probably too good to be true, I would never get an eBAY turbo, also from reputable companys that is a 1200$ turbo so think about it.
PS: Dont ever ask for rep. You will get some when you are helpful and contribute good posts.

i didnt link directly to ebay cause it dont usually work. But i did list the ebay item number if you didnt see it. here it is again:
230029133686
so all you have to do is go to ebay and plug this number in the search bar and bam. Also, it is not like he only is selling one of these turbos, he is selling a bunch of them. And dont nock it just because of the price.

It's not selling for 300.00. At 4 days left with 12 bids that thing'll go up. I don't see any markings on the comp housing and would ask the seller what wheel it has in it. I personally would be wary but that's just me

previouse one i bid on went for 450 so they do go relativley cheap. but that is a good idea i will message him and see what he says. thanks

He has sold a bunch of turbos already. Just hit items for sale and then completed items. Send some messages to his buyers to find out what they got.

230026391588 -- $605.00
230026391146 -- $570.00
230023666233 -- $454.00
230025956155 -- $450.00

I smell a knock off. If your serious about getting a GT35 then buy one from a reputable shop with a warranty.

Yeah its kinda hard not to smell it when theres nothing imprinted on the comp housing or anything. Id just save your money up for supporting mods before thinking about a turbo of that size.

i do have most of the supporting mods i need right now. Only thing i would get before this would be dsmlink and or gm maf. I am seriously thinking of getting one. whats the worst that could happen. And if it turns out to be a good turbo then I found a really cheap big turbo for the price of an evoIII 16g. It is going to take some time for me to get some money for it but when i do i will post pics and stuff for the masses.

Why ask for opinions if you wont listen to them?

If you want to buy it, just buy it, but remember you always run the risk of bad shit happening when you buy something that normally goes for $1200, for $400.

If it works out and you get 50k+ miles on it, hey awesome great deal, but if it doesnt last 5k miles and takes out your motor if it grenades, was it still worth the $400?

I notice most Ebay turbos don't last very long. It has to be a knock off, I wouldn't buy it but thats me.

I guess we will see you in a two months about how your turbo just died or compressor wheel came off or compressor housing poped out or how a bolt came loose and chewed all the fins and possibly damage your engine etc etc ROFL

If you do buy it keep us posted.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Agree 100%percent :thumb:

We aren't trying to put you down or tell you not to buy something that you think is awesome. You ask for opinions and we give em to you and if you don't want to listen then maybe you will learn the hard way

have you bought one? No, right? so how would you know this one is bad? Do you know someone who has bought from this dealer? No again right? ebay aint all bad. It is just the same stuff but cheaper in most of the cases(IE wastegates and blowoff valves). I know this is usually not the case with most turbos posted on ebay but you dont even think this could change? I dont know i guess i was expecting some excitment over someone testing this turbo out but i guess i was wrong.
The dealer also told me that it is all garret internals. Arnt all garret parts the same? If not please let me know.

guys we see stuff like this come into the shop all the time in all kinds of cars. 9/10 we see how much bullshit these kind of products are. we have seen turbos blow out after they are run for the first time, we have seen some turbine housings CRACK AT THE FLANGE, compressor wheel blads break CLEAN off.

There is a reason the genuine products cost as much as they do. Quality, warranties and technical service aren't cheap you know.......

This was the kind of advice i was looking for. Ah oh well maybe there is no such thing as big cheap turbo. Thanks for the advice

did anyone notice this? "Garrett GT35R spec ballbearing turbo" - see the 'spec' that right there is his way out, nifty little sh*t like that how you sell a fake but still call it a Garrett, it's not a GT35R, but it's built to the same specs... in other words.. a copy.

Customer bought an EVO3 16G knock-off off of ebay even though we told him it was a copy...he still bought it.

We installed it, primed the engine, started it for a 20 minute warmup.

It took exactly 14 seconds before this god aweful noise came from the engine bay. It sounded like a firetruck siren.

Shut everything off, the fins were all chewed-up.

He says, "Must have been just a bad one" Sent it back, they sent another one, same thing.

After the 4th one we got him one from SBR, problem solved.

This is personal experience with an Ebay turbo too good to be true.

one of my buddies bought a knock off 16g turbo off ebay about 2 months ago even though i told him not too. but since he was low in cash and he found one with the 2g install kit, he bought it anyways. so far the turbo is still good however it has not seen any hard accelerations or anything over 12psi since he has no boost controller. If anything breaks, Ill let you guys know! LOL

Has any seen Garrett Warranty? Garett ofers the same warranty as the guys from ebay NONE. I have had two garrett in the pass three years. They where good turbo one lasted a little over a year and the other did not. This is why I went with Turbonetics http://www.turbochargers.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=21_37&products_id=425 version for the GT35r, just for the what if factor. Price was a motivating factor. :thumb:
