My alternator failed on me, so I read up on vfaq on takin it off. Anyway, when I put the new one on I knew there were two connections. Well if you know what I'm talking about those two wires come from a harness, and along with this harness were two other wires. One with a clip and one yellow one I believe, that got chopped up. Where do these connect to? You know that harness on the drivers fender next to the steering pump? Well one of the wires out of there connects to the evaporator, but there's this blue and black wire I think that's chopped up. Hey, my bad if this sounds confusing. I'm just trying to be as descriptive as possible.

No camera, so I thought I'd get y'all confused a bit first. :p But I've searched the gallery to see if I can bum a picture but no luck. I guess I'll try and get a camera some how, but I got faith that someone will figure it out. ;)

Right, well my oil sensor light does flicker. So maybe your correct, but which wire is that? The one coming from the fender? And what does it connect to?

I don't know how your setup is....but on mine the oil pressure idiot/gauge wire come down with the alternator wire "loom". It's fairly straight forward as to which wire goes where by the connector that's on the wire.

At this point a picture might be worth a thousand words.

also there is a wire that comes out of that harness for power steering pressure on top of the pump. they get killed every now and then because they are so long I guess.

That's the two harnesses I'm talking about, the power steering and the altenator. They got chopped up at the ends so I don't know how long they used to be. But I def. will take and upload a picture today, got my handy dandy brand new camera phone yesterday. Stay tuned..

I cut up my wire too.. what does it go to? I tested the voltage to it and it has 14.5 volts and I unhooked the battery and there was still 14.5 volts to which ment it was coming off the alternator.

Where does it hook up at?

Thanks
Joe

Will post a pic soon. But the wire you're holding isn't it. The harness it came out of is. Watch, you'll see what I'm talking about.

That wire actually runs back to the ECU . . . it is supposed to hook up to the top/front of the power steering pump. It lets the ECU know what type of load is on the pump so it can bump the idle up a bit so it doesn't stall out.

The nipple on your sensor may have broken clean off.

The other two wires that are normally on the same harness (aside from the ones that hook up to the Alternator) . . . one goes to the oil pressure sending unit (for the stock oil pressure gauge) and the other one hooks up to the oil pressure switch (makes the idiot light come on).
