Alright here is the story hopefully someone will be able to lend some help out to me. I purchased a 1990 Eclipse 1.8l with a bad ecu... popped in a new ecu and she started. Now another thing to know is while I was waiting for the new ecu I messed with the distributor so before she would start again I did have to retime with a timing light. Not sure if that may be part of my current problem though. Anyways the problem is it will not rev past half throttle, I rev slow or fast, in or out of gear and the second it gets to half throttle the engine bogs down. The car idles decent and drives fine up to half throttle. I dont know too much of the cars history but the previous owner made it seem that before the ecu fried the car was completely fine.

I have adjusted the timing a ton, unbolted the downpipe in case of a clogged cat, and bought new plugs and regapped them. Maybe its a sensor?

I am a student trying to get this car down to my college. Im going home this weekend to try and fix it again but if all else fails im going to give the local mechanic a shot. So if anyone has any ideas to the problem PLEASE let me know, any input will be greatly appreciated.

Yes it is a 1.8l non-turbo fuel injection with a distributor

I actually bought a second tps sensor from the junkyard a while back ill see if I can find it and swap it out tomorrow. I think the reason I never swapped it before was because I was told that the tps sensors dont really go bad. Thanks thats good thinking though I will start by swapping that anyways. Any other ideas?

Yeah they can go bad but do a little research before you pull anything off. The TPS sensor has to be adjusted, again with the multi-meter. Read the manual.

When I get home I will test the tps sensor, does you or anyone else have any other ideas of what the problem could be??
