Calgary,
I've decided to change my headgasket. Just wondering if you guys could write out some steps that i should take to do this. And the most efficent way. For a 1G 4G63T

It's pretty straight forward in the beginning. Just remove most stuff you see in the way. It may seem like a huge task until you get into it, and you'll see that most of the stuff you need to remove are large items (ex: intake, manifold, turbo, UICP). Those are only a couple bolts a piece and will make everything easier. When dismantling the exhaust system always, ALWAYS use PB Blaster (or something similar). Just spray it on every 15 or so minutes and let it sit over night. Nothing ruins a day or empties a wallet faster than breaking an exhaust nut/bolt.

Also, when taking things apart, it's a good idea to stick a wadded up sock or rag in holes so that stuff does not get into it. A prime example would be your turbine inlet. If you take off the exhaust manifold, then decide to call it a night, stick something in your turbine inlet so random things don't fall in there. You can also do this on the throttle body and the exhaust ports of the head.

As Don said, read through things and search a lot. Let us know if there's anything we can help you with further.
