I have no idea, I bought this car a while ago off of ebay where it was donated to some charity( I know, stupid) and when I picked it up there was no head on it. So the last couple weeks I have been putting it back together, I have the head and manifolds bolted in and today Im putting new timing belt, balance belt, water pump, all pulleys and tensioners in and found this. After posting this I went out and cleaned up the block and water pipe pretty well, can I put the new water pump on and finish the T-belt job?

At that point I would probably pull the block take it to a shop and have the block cleaned. Then replace the radiator and all the hoses also have the block checked out. or buy a used short block and put your head on it since you already have one.

Is there anyway I can flush out the cooling system instead???

I cant believe this shit....where does all the coolant run throught the engine just so I have an idea of what could be rusted?

I would NOT mess with that block. Pick up another used block, freshen it up, throw a head on and call it a day.

Thats askin for a full rebuild. Tear it down, have the block hot tanked have your machinist check everything.

yea, def look like some water was ran through and just sat, always a good side though...fresh motor!, anyways good luck

That sucks man. Sorry to hear about that block is gonna need to be cleaned up and jet washed out before you can use it. Tough Luck.

You dont have a block in surprise i could pick up from ya do you?;)

Hmmm, after thinking about it I dont think that this crap was run through the block. I mean how could it run like that at all, the car has been sitting for a while so the coolant could just have corroded, and plus the other end of the water pipe is totally clean. I also think that it might be ok because when I got the car and the head was off you could see marks on the pistons from where valves hit which I believe is why the car was donated. So what I did was clean it all up and ran water through the pipe until it came out clear, im going to set the timing and see what happens when I run her, I mean why not? Im almost done putting everything together and even if it doesn't run right ill just do a swap.
