I know this is the completely wrong section but its urgent. I have ALL the other springs installed on the car and I can NOT get this last strut bolt off. The top bolt, that holds the hat on. I put a pair of vice grips on it and all it did was screw up the threads, now theres like nothing to get it off. Do I have to order a new shock or can I take it to a shop and have them cut it off

Try pounding on the next smaller size socket or an american size that is a little smaller.

Oh the right wrench fits on, it just spins and you have to hold the actual bolt down with vice grips, the threads already looked messed up and these vise grips just ruined them even more. I think im going to have to take it to a shop and have them cut the bolt off and buy a new strut that has good threads :(

DSMcamaro- your not understanding what im saying. I can get the bolt to break loose and spin, BUT it spins the actual threads it attatched to as well. Thats why you need vice grips to hold the threads and break it loose, after that, its a piece of cake. I think Im just going to have to cut it off and order new front pair of illuminas :(
