Yes it can. On my friends Turbo XS we just added washers inside to make the spring harder. That is what his kit from Turbo XS said to do and it worked just fine.
 
There really isnt a need to use a aftermarket bov, your stock on crushed is more than enough.

I run 26psi on a crushed 1g bov.....

Just make sure you have that 90* elbow for the installation. If you don't have it, you will run into serious hood clearence issues. But I'm sure your friend took care of you.

Yea, its all there, someone gave it to me complete and i had no use for it so i gave it to him.
 
imagine if he didnt have the 90* bend and just cut a small 1.5" hole in the hood!

that thing would be loud as fuct!
