Well, ran some seafoam thru my 95gsx the other day and it brought my attention to an exhaust leak up front...So today I unbolted the turbo/manifold to find out where...actually I should say Where is it NOT cracked/leaking...
Anyway the manifold is cracked underneath in multiple places...and inside as well I can see cracks...the turbo had a small oil puddle in it..so Im guessing the seals are screwed as well...the exhaust side of turbo around waste gate and other spots also have cracks....
Anyway...should I replace the cracked parts and have the turbo rebuilt...OR should I just spend some extra $$ and just upgrade the turbo now....
Kinda torn between what to do...
checked some prices on ebay for turbos and see its in the 300-400 range...I would rather NOT order from ebay but i just was trying to get some ball park figures...
Anyway I dont know...just lookin for a push in either direction...
Oh and I have a 6bolt with 14b all stock..

If you need a manifold and turbo, I recommend the $700 package from turbochargers.com

I recently got the e316g (genuine) with install kit and manifold. It was 735 shipped. Everything looks great so far, still working on uninstalling my t-25 though.

You are having 2 different problems here right? The turbo is leaking oil and your exhaust manifold is cracked.

It is not worth rebuilding the stock turbo and I would be wary of getting a used 14b. Of course it is cheaper than way but it's all luck of the draw how long it lasts.

Yea...manifold is cracked, and around the wastegate flapper is also cracked...also..Im new to this whole turbo scene..but the wastegate actuator rod...is this supposed to be movable by hand?? Cause its not...at least not with my herculean strength...
So i guess ill need a new manifold and dirty side of turbo...
The oil leak...well im not 100% on this..all I know is the Jpipe that loops and goes to intercooler was slimy with oil...but it never really got further then that...and there was a small dribble inside as well...but not excessive amounts..
On second thought...I dont think I want to upgrade just yet...id rather ruin another 14b then ruin a nice big 16g...sometime in the future..it was a snap taking it off anyway...

What do you mean you have a j-pipe. You aren't running a t-25 then I'm guessing because jpipes aren't on 2g's stock.

You probably can't move your wastegate actuator by hand I tried a little bit and I couldn't.

Its the stock 90 turbo....and I dont know what a jpipe is...I was refering to the intake side, outlet pipe that goes to intercooler kinda looked like a J so I thought it was...
the 90-94 came with 14b's I thought..and I thought I said that...
