It seems to be the general consensus that 272/272 is great for people running 16g's with plans on upgrading to a bigger turbo.

What about if instead of upgrading the turbo, a 6-bolt rebuild swap was done w/ a 2.3 stroker. Would the 272/272 combo still be sufficient?

I ask because in order to up my turbo to the gt30r i want next, i'd need a new exhaust mani, new exhaust system, bigger injectors & fuel pump and an afpr. soooo... while the prospect of a new turbo sounds amazing, I see myself either spending the money fixing crankwalk first.

Are there any power gains w/ the stroker kit anyway? Or is it just a shift in power. Sorry for the dumb questions, i'm new to this engine stuff

The answer to the cam question, yes the 272's would be great to upgrade.I feel you should always go with 272/272 with any turbo upgrade or block work ect. When upgradeing to a gt30r,thats a big turbo that needs your top end to spool it.I stand by hks 272's till the end.IMO.
The stroker kit?im not sure.I mean you have big guys like Shep, and evileagle who are running 2.0blocks and if it made that big of difference I would think they would run them.I haven't own a stroker and don't really know anyone that do.I dont have an opion on that question.

there's tons of info about strokers on here.. the short and sweet.. if you want more low end torque, a fast spool, and an engine that doesn't really like to rev past 7500, go with it.. I would... shep and the likes who drag these cars don't want a 2.4 can they can't wind it out to 9000+ rpm..

The stroker would pin those 272s, get a set of FP3s, they are stroker specific. On Magnus' site they claim it gives 50 more HP, and 130 more TQ just from doing the stroker kit. The stroker decreases spool time on larger turbo's, and you shouldnt go smaller then a 50trim on a stroker because it will be pointless, strokers also flow 20% more air through them then 2.0s. Due to less then desirable rod ratio if you go reving the stroker like a 2.0 to 9k when youi pull the head you see nice egg shaped wear on the cyl. walls. Its a great put you back in your seat stump puilling engine.
