starting problem

ive researched this and cant quite seem to find the answer to my question. my gs has given me problems when i try to start it. ill turn the key and i hear a click or two and then all you hear id the starter gear spinning until i let go. does anyone know what i should do? sometimes it works the first time i try and other times it takes 5 or 6. Also when it does start theres a loud high pitched zing. so far ive replaced the starter 4 times. i tested the starter i have now and its fine the gear pops out all the way and spins fine and my flywheels teeth look ok too. i dont think the flywheel is moved any and all connections seem to be good. please help.

Solenoid that bumps the starter gear out sounds like its bad...need a new starter!

i thought that could have been the problem but ive put 4 new starters in and they work perfect once or twice then the next day they all do the same thing, also i tested the one i have now and the gear comes out and spins fine.

please help, i cant take goin to the local shows and bein asked if i wanna pop start it and havin gto say ill start just give it 5 tries.

Hey, the clicking you hear sounds like an electrical problem.. Since you've replaced the alternator 4 times, i'd check out everything electrical. Your battery, and it's condition. The terminals, contacts on the battery, or the solenoid.
To test your solenoid, connect a jumper wire between the battery positive, and the "S" terminal on the solenoid. If the starter operates, the solenoid is okay and the problem lies with the ignition switch, neutral start switch, starter relay, or in the wirring harness.
Clean and reconnect all connections.
Give it a shot, see what happens..
