Do I need 1g or 2g MAF-T?

Ok, I'm looking at buying a MAF-T with the GM 3" MAF included. I found a pretty good deal but it says the MAF-T is for a 1g DSM. What is the difference in the 2g MAF-T compared to the 1g and how do I know which one I need. I have a somewhat mixed motor setup and I'm unsure as to what I need. I have the 1g 6-bolt motor but I don't know if that matters or not? I'm assuming I still have a 2g ECU? How can I tell?

Any way to tell visually maybe? Also, if I did get the 2g setup and I have a 1g MAS right now how hard would it be to switch whatever is needed to put it back to a 2g MAS? I'm not so knowledgable with the ECU system yet LOL. Thanks much so far tho!

The 2G MAS is more oval-shaped, and the 1G MAS is more circular. You can take a look in the engine photo gallery to get a better idea of the differences. If all else fails, post a pic of your sensor and I'll tell you. I'd say chances are you have a 2G MAS in your car, but here's the vfaq link for the swap, just in case.

Thanks alot! You've been a huge help so far. I think I have the 2g, it looks like it to me anyways. How hard will it be for me to convert so I can vent to atmosphere? I'm buying the MAF-T brand new and a 3" GM MAF. Now is it as simple as I just install the MAF right before the TB in my UICP, un-hook the recirculation hose from my BOV and and plug in the MAF-T? Or is tuning required through the MAF-T?

No problem. You should just have to install the MAF in a blow-through configuration (after the BOV) and hook up the translator. I'm not very familiar with MAF-T tuning, but I believe you can dial in your injector size and the target AFR, depending on the version of the unit, and you're good to go.

Ok thanks again. It is supposed to be the version 2.01 or something, the newest it says. Also here is a pic of my engine bay, maybe you can confirm. Also I now should be able to replace my air filter and completely remove that MAS for a more free flowing setup right?
