i recently just got a 1997 GSX bone stock with 51k. i came over from the GSs as i am selling my GS show car to start over with a GSX. i have this list and want to know what the best purchasing order would be. i will be buying all the parts slowly as i get the money. i want to know what i should buy so i have the least time spent with parts just sitting in my garage, and waiting for something else to come to make it work. Also, could you add if i am forgetting anything, or you think a different item would be better than something i have. i just want to run a good evoIII 16g setup, then have 50 trim possibilities later down the road.

-evoIII 16g
-injen IS intake
-apex'i AVC-R
-Thermal exhuast
-walbro 255lph
-FIC 750cc
-GReddy 24R intercooler with pipes
-GReddy type RS BOV
-guages
boost
EGT
wideband O2
-DSMLink

and these are the parts that i dont know what i am going to do yet:
-downpipe
-O2 sensor housing
-Ex. mani.
-turbo timer

thanks and i am looking forward to being part of the 4g63 guys now.

afpr and as for the intercooler and intake, you can get cheaper ones that are better in performance or just the same

Just get any generic intake with a K&N filter and you can get that FMIC kit from XSPower. I'm so tempted to sell my Greddy for this kit which will also result in me going short route.

You do need an AFPR even if you have DSMlink. Link won't do anything for fuel pressure.

As for the order to buy parts, here's my advice.

1. DSMlink
2. Boost gauge (I think EGT gauge is pointless once you have ability to log knock)
3. Intake
4. Fuel Pump & injectors
5. FMIC, BOV, boost controller
6. WBO2
7. Turbo/Exhaust manifold/downpipe/exhaust *see comment below

*Since you said you wanted to upgrade to a 50 trim, why not just do that instead of running a 16G and then upgrading to a 50 trim. Since you mentioned manifold anyway, the price difference between a Turbonetics flanged for a T3 isn't that much more compared to getting a Evo III manifold or something like that. Plus, the garrett housing is more efficient and allows for more options than the mitsu flange does.

I put downpipe/exhaust last because you don't want to start out thinking you'll stick with a 16G and get a downpipe flanged for mitsu hotside, only to switch to a 50 trim T3 with a 5 bolt turbine outlet and have to re-flange.

To save money, Turbo timer = sit in your car for a min before you shut the engine off.

Before you start adding power upgrade your clutch and flywheel and those components or you will regret it when you are sitting on the sit of the road with a blown clutch or worse. do all of the supporting mods before you add your major power gainer; the e316g

ya i am actually going to be doing a lot of stuff first like suspension, brakes, etc. im in no rush and also getting a daily driver so this will be strictly a project car, and my first project car with a lot of engine stuff. and yes, ive read the "upgrade paths" pages inside and out, but just wanted to see what the best specific order would be to get fully to "stage 2"/higher. thanks, and now i just gotta start working my ass off. :thumb:
