Yes i have a 93 awd talon with a 6bolt motor. Mods are ross racing pistons 8.5.1, rest is stock internals. Fuel is holley walbro hp 255lph, 450cc injectors, and a modified stock fpr. Turbo is a bullseye 50 trim turbo new, tial sport 38mm wastegate, built transmission, with some type of after market clutch was told it is a clever clutch, greddy type s bov, hks turbo timer, blitz duelsolnoid electronic boost controler, 3 inch full exhaust front to back with no cat on it with a apexi n1 muffler, the head has just been rebuilt, new gasket it has a mitsu 4 layer metal head gasket, new water pump, new belts, new ngk irdium plugs, new borg warner wires. most of this shit on this car is new alternator is new. The problems i am having now out of this car is it wants to idle surge it goes from 900 to 1500 and comes back down sometimes it even gets to 2000rpms. I know it could be the isc, so i been trying to find that one link on the forums for those cheap iscs they where anouncing about a couple months ago if anyone has this let me know i would appreciate it or if u guys know anywhere else. Also i have a smoking problem, and it smells like gas the color looks grey or white i know its not a head gasket cause i have a new mitsu 4 layer metal head gasket on it, and the head has been newly rebuilt. I am stumped on what to do next. Oh yeah how do u clean the isc maybe that might help. I know the guy said when he rbuilt my head he said that my intake had a shitload of carbon build up in it and he cleaned it out the best he could. I know the car set for almost a year before i bought it i figured i try and get her up and running and so far i have got her to the point of it and now these 2 issues are holding me back any help would be greatly appreciated, also forgot to add the car smokes more when you rev on it. Sometimes it smokes at idle alot, or less at times.

as far as the idle goes, it could be a boost leak...but not if the car boosts good...if not that then you need to check your tps (throttle position sensor) and make sure it is in working order, and also the ips (idle position sensor)...

as for the smoking...just because you have a new headgasket doesnt mean it cant leak...if the head wasnt decked properly then it will leak...check your overflow resivoir and see if it looks like choclate milk....if so then its your prob.....also your rings might not be seated properly causing it to smoke...and get rid of the irdium plugs...get brp7es

i know my boost gauge says the vacumm is at -16 right now, and couldnt the o2 sensor if it was bad make the car run rich and make it smoke to cause the smoke will burn your eyes and it smells like gas. If the rings isn't seated right what will fix that just reseat them like takem out and do it or what, or will they seat theirselfs eventually.

I notice you said a 255lph and 450cc on a modified stock fpr...does that mean the fpr is adjustable?

because if not, I'm pretty sure your overrunning the injectors.

As for the running rich, injector overrun could cause that, also a bad MAS or faulty front O2 sensor.

And Sheldon is absolutely right, a new head gasket without proper cleaning and prepping of the head can result in leaks.

Let us know what happens.

Before you start replacing headgaskets and fuel pressure regulators and whatnot why don't you try the cheap things first. A boost leak will cause an irregular idle along with rich conditions that are very similar to the symptoms you described.

Here's a link for you. It's the proper way to run a boost leak test. Remember to spray down the entire intake track (including the injectors, throttle body, and intake manifold) with soapy water. It will help you locate boost leaks easier.

1. Define "modified fpr". This is important.

2. Are you venting? Are you tapping the BOV line for the mbc?

3. Boost leak test, compression test?

4. Did you adjust the BISS by just turning the screw?

It's the fpr that gets overrun, not the injectors.

BLT!!!! :) What's up Damien?

the fpr is modified to increase pressure not lower it its modified with that b&m fuel pressure modifier.

good point about the mas...you should have enough info to start eliminating things...keep us posted

i do have a fuel pressure gauge and it is reading at 38 psi with line on, and 43 with it off. i do know that there is a shitload of carbon built up in the intake cause like said the car set for a full year and the car orginally before had a garret t4 on it, apexi afc, msd ing, turbo xs rfl bov, turbonetics mark2 deltaegate wastegate. Also the car was ran on nos to spool the turbo up faster. I just downgraded cause the t4 needed rebuild, i got the tial, most of the work is my doing with the parts.
