my car drives fine.. pulls everygear.. but when i shift into 5th.. it will still pull n boost but i hear a whinning noise.. ive asked a few friends that own dsms and they either said.. your tranny is giving out soon.. you wll be able to tell if you start hearing it in 4th then 3rd OR its just gear noise and you dont have anything to worrie about.

if its just gear noise... what can i do to fix it? drain and add new tranny fluid?

Head to your local GM dealership and pick up some synchromesh. You'll need about 4 quarts I believe, and it should help out alot. But you will ###### need a rebuild in the future if the car has high miles.

Most likely its the bearings if its whining. Mine got worse after I changed tranny fluid.

the car has 153k miles on it.. im planning on a rebuilt soon. but im lookin into the TRE street tranny as an upgrade.

but i need this tranny to last untill i get can the funds for it. ### i will have to reaplce the clutch, forks, flywheel, etc.. i dont have the money for that yet.

I have about 100 miles on mine and so does my brother. We had bearing noises. Our mechanic recomended using motor oil as tranny oil and it may help out because it will cause less friction. The oil breaks down quicker but works great. Both our trannys shift better than ever and a lot of noise went away. He has rebuild many trannys and he said that the ones that had motor oil seemed the cleanest. He also said the the Pennzoil synchromesh sucks and seems to wear down tranny components faster than other fluids.
