I don't know if this is the place to post it, if it's the wrong place, I'm sorry. I have the CAPS program and have been looking for the past hour for the knock sensor part # and I can't seem to come across it. If anyone knows this part #, please let me know so I can order it so I can put my motor back in. Thanks, and if it's in the wrong place, move it so i know next time.

I wasn't trying to be sarcastic or mean; I figured you were a new CAPS user and didn't know how to search yet. Once you enter all of your vehicle information, you can type the name of the part your looking for in the "Part Name" field. After that, just hit enter, and it'll search for the appropriate parts. This comes in handy because not all parts are illustrated, so sometimes the only way to find them is through a name search.

Which version of CAPS do you have? I don't know much about CAPS or what versions are available, but my copy of the program doesn't include 1G vehicles. Maybe CAPS wasn't available before 1995... or maybe there's just a different version for 1Gs... I don't know. Maybe a 1G 4G63 Wiseman can fill me in. :D

I just press F2 and F8 like a mofo till I get to where I want. I messed up so many times loooking for the same part number that I have PCN numbers memorized.

Here's a few tips on CAPS, courtesy of our buddys at galantvr4.org.

When I select a quantity of 1 in CAPS, it adds two part numbers to my list.

When you see that, it means that the lower number is the new good part number, the old is superceded. See in the heading for that area where it says:
"Part No" and below it says "Repl P/No".

How do you do a reverse lookup in CAPS? (Enter the PN and get a description?)

Put the part number in the normal parts field, leaving your cursor there. Move the mouse to the little icon at the top that has the truck, car question mark and the bolt, and click. Locates the section and parts code number for you, or tells you it is not on this disk. The Evo part will not show up in the US caps.

CAUTION: The new superseded parts shown on the second line that we discussed yesterday do not usually show up (Data inquiry not traced) either unless they are used on another model as well.

Don't know if you guys know this.......on a blank parts screen put a part # in the part # area & hit F8 & it will tell you what vehicle the # fits. Also if you put in the vehicle you are working with, put the part # in the part# area hit F10 & it will tell you what it is (you can also hit enter but it doesn't always work).

another tip that can useful when it comes to the program giving you multiple part numbers - enter your vin # once you start CAPS. It will only show you numbers for your car. If there are multiple numbers, it is because mitsu changed the part numbers over the years.

Of course, before this can work you must install Mitsu Mystery Term Translator so you'll know "bolts" are "stoppers", "covers" are "shields", "hatches" are "lids", and on and on.

It's almost as bad as trying to search DSMtuners. Don't try to use "car" in the search field.
