Puck clutches?

I've always had a chattering noise coming from my clutch/bellhousing area while in neutral and with the clutch pedal not being pushed(push pedal in noise goes away).

I have a 4 puck unsprung, The noise has been there before and after new parts.
Rebuilt Tranny
New Clutch disk
Resurfaced flywheel
New pressure plate
And 3 new Throw out bearings trying each one,hoping the previous one was bad.

All I want to know is whether that noise in that particular situation is from the puck clutch. If so I'm fine with it, If not I want to fix anything that may have a problem.

I remember seeing somehwere that unsprung puck clutches tend to chatter normally. I'm not sure though.

puck clutches tend to produce chatter, i used to have a 6 puck and it chattered like you wouldnt believe, i switched to a disc and solved all my problems.


as far as the noise in neutral, are you sure your not confusing it with a whistling noise? or is it a definate chatter?

It's not a whistle, I would describe it as a chatter and in neutral is the only time it chatters. I know unsprung puck clutches are supposed to chatter, but it was my understanding it happened when you pushed the clutch pedal in to diesengage the clutch. This is while it's engaged and in neutral.
The only two things I could explain this with would have been either a transmission input shaft bearing, or a throw out bearing. But both have been replaced.
