Saskatoon,
Anyone in here have any good ideers on a turbo manifold? I have a shop ready to hydo cut some 3/8 stainless flanges for me dirt cheap. I figure people are always complaining about the mild steel flanges and how they crack so i'm gonna build a limited amount of fully stainless manifolds and sell them on here to you guys nice and cheap. What I don't want is to rip-off someone's design and have a freakin lawsuit on my hands. So yeah, lets see some drawings.:thumb:

Save your money and buy a 2G exhaust manifold. But if your determind to build your own you could "copy" any other design that you want, you just couldnt mass produce it/ sell it.

i agree with him ^^^^

i put a 2g exhuast manifold on my 1g and i had it all ported out.. i can show you pics of comparesion if you would like.. HUGE difference. i also changed my 02housing to a 2g also all ported out. on my 14b with exhuast side ported.:dsm:

Save money???. I'm a welder by trade. All the material is leftover stuff from steam turbines that the shop has been building. I've got a 600 volt three phase miller ShopMaster with the industrial liquid cooled tig setup to use. Besides, i'll ###### have a blast making them. I was thinking along the lines of the factory 2g with an external wastegate. Simple and strong is the goal.

The stainless flanges will warp a lot more then mild steel, that is why the companies that make them use 1/2" mild steel.

the tubular mani's dont hold up the weight of big turbos as well as the steel ones will *stock* style

if your welder.. just get a 2g.. port it out.. cut a hole in the side of it..weld a external flange on it.. and be done with it!

You are correct. I can't belive I didn't think of that. 3000 pounds of 304 stainless and I have nothing to build with it:(

Not to be an ass but...the correct spelling for ideers is.....ideas. Thats all sorry no input on your question

LOL, I was trying to be cool and use some Orange County Chopper lingo. I guess it didn't work:D

Since you have access to a amazing machine i'd go ahead and build a equal length manifold. If you use stainless flanges i'd just cut reliefs into the flanges so as it expands it won't rip the studs off in the head. I've seen it happen to other manifolds with this. There is only so many ways to build a manifold but i wouldn't ever suggest stealing someone elses ideas it's really not a good idea. Also as far as manifolds cracking if it's built properly you won't have any problems with this. Perfect examples off this would be from shops such as full race or Shearer. I have never seen any of these crack. Also make the flanges all 1/2 inch.
