It's been forever but the time has finally come! I'm currently about to drop the 6-bolt motor into my 98 GS-T but I want to make sure that I dont make any mistakes because I really want this thing to start up easily. What are some things I need to do to the motor before I start it up? are there any issues with a 1g in a 2g that aren't very obvious until you run up on it or something just not covered in the VFAQ or on here? Any information will be grrrrrrrreatly appreciated! Also my brother was looking at the motor and said something about there being 2 different water pipes for a 6-bolt or somethin like that and that I may have the wrong one?? Sounds a little weird because I never thought of that but I thought I'd throw it out there but yeah thanks for all your time guys! Lemme know somethin!

My advice would to double check the following:

Timing
CAS wiring
Fluid levels

If these are all good I say go for it. The water pipes for a 1g turbo are all the same. The N/T does not have the water outlet for cooling the turbo. If everything connects fine, and you have the coolant line for the turbo then dont worry about it.

I bought my CAS harness from Road/Race Engineering so I'm pretty sure thats good and my timing should be right ### we spent a good deal of time on that part to make sure it was right but why not just quadruple check it anyways LOL and Yeah ill get fluids in but aren't you supposed to "prime the engine" good before starting it up? Also i heard from a pal i should pour oil in the turbo before starting it and lastly its been sitting awhile with a little gas in it, if I fill it up will that be ok? or should i add treatment and fresh gas or what? Thanks again guys

Dont use that old gas, it loses 1 octane point per month of sitting, and why put old gas through a new motor? Just siphone(sp?) it out then add some new gas. As for the priming, and oil in the turbo, I dont know.

To prime the motor and turbo, you simply pull the 20A fuse in the fuse box that says ENGINE on the cover.
That will not allow the injectors to fire, and I'm pretty sure the ignition will not fire as well.

Then all you have to do is turn the motor over 3 - 4 times for about 10-15 seconds each.
That will get plenty of oil up to the head, and will push plenty of oil thru the turbo too.

Good luck, and I hope all goes well....
