im going to buy this car!

http://www.dsmtuners.com/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=50844&cat=2

i can get it for 4k if he takes off the current turbo and fmic, so my questions are as follows:

should i buy these online (ebay, classifieds, etc) or would a junk yard be a better choice? and how much would that run me?

would the 14b bolt up easily requiring no modifications?

is there anything i need besides the smic (piping, lines, etc..) to replace the fmic?

should i/could i go slightly larger on the turbo for the same price?

is this a dumb move on my part? i think its a good deal just have to put in some elbow grease and get these parts installed before i can drive it...

any help would be greatly appreciated..let me know guys:thumb:

Why don't you just give him teh $5k he is asking and keep the existing turbo and FMIC? By the time you get yourself a used 14b, in god knows what condition, a SMIC and some intercooler piping you might be over $400. Not to mention your time installing a new turbo, intercooler, etc.

Sounds like a no brainer to me. ;)

Listen to this guy.

Go scrape up some more money and get it in full form.

the car is at 18psi right now can i lower that with the logger to a safer more reliable number? what do you guys think would be the right amount of boost for that setup to run reliably as my daily driver? im sure 18 is fine with 650 cc injectors and a rewired 255 but i dont think ill be able to control myself with that much boost, would lowering it be harmful or less efficient? let me know thanks

thats true, i just talked to the guy and he said he could get all the parts for me so if thats the case it would save me money and hassle because i could just install them when i get there and not have to ship it...ill let you all know how this unfolds

okay so after more negotiation it looks like he's going to be getting the parts instead and then ill install them and drive it home WTF ..we keep going back and forth but ill let you guys know if things change again LOL

o yea and would i need anything else when replacing the "PTE SCM 6031 w/internal 36mm gate" with a 14b or do all the lines/gaskets match up? same thing for the fmic, i just need the smic, licp, and uicp correct?

Correct, plus the water and oil lines for the 14b.

can i get those at like home depot or a hardware store? or do i need specific lines...if any one knows the sizes of these lines id like to know so i could pick up the same ones locally if possible

You will need the specific lines. To be honest, I would have to agree with everyone else If you are unsure of what you need I would not try and save a couple hundred bucks and drive out somewhere and work on a car in some guys driveway and do a turbo swap and hope to drive it back home. Maybe if you had done a turbo swap before and knew what you are getting yourself into, but it doesn't seem like you have the hands on experience to do this by yourself.

i know what your saying i really dont have the expierience but im going to bring my brothers with me who have owned multiple dsm's and are expierienced...i really just wish i had the 5g's right now to buy this thing, unfortunatly ill have to wait until my car sells :( i should ###### drop the price some on my car so it sells faster right? 6,800 is too much for my audi
