Hey i noticed that several people had 6x9's in the rear side panels of their talons and eclipses, but on Crutchfield advises mostly 6.5 and 6 3/4 applications. I just wanted to know if I would have to do any modifications to the baffle to install 6x9's, which 6x9 speakers have fit well for others, and if it is even worth doing it.

I had to do some cutting on the panels to get my Infinity 6x9's to fit. Nothing you can notice from the outside, it was all for clearance issues (magnets).

EDIT: To clarify, they are not OEM Infinity speakers.

not sure if esi are the same as the others but most came with 6x9's stock. you just have to do some clearancing for the bigger aftermarket speaker magnets to have room. just take out the speaker and try to stick the new one in. see where it hits and pound it with a hammer until its dented in enough to clear

6x9's low pofiles fit without any issues...either earthquakes or the blaupunkt TH series.

Any other with larger magnets will require some moding of the internal bracket...nothing visible on the outside.

Also, what I did was build a plate to accomodate a 6 1/2" and tweeter component set by Massive Audio. That's the line we sell %95 of the time and man do they ever blow everything else out of the water clarity wise.

Cheers!

The non-infinity system came stock with 6.5's so I was thinkin about going to a junkyard and picking up the baffles from the infinty system so i wouldn't have to drill new holes for 6x9's. Oh well, I might as well stick with some after market 6.5's hah
