Well you may have rememberd my post about having the ebay 16g on my car for 1000 miles and then the turbo died. Well I just put my old 14b back on and drove it around for awhile, couple hours in I started to hear a grinding noise then a PING, no more boost......checked all lines, hoses, all fine. Rev up the car with my ear to the filter and hear nothing......Did I blow another turbo??? I checked my oil lines to see if they were clogged before I installed it, or is my car just possessed!!!!!! HELLPPP!!!!

Why don't you check the LICP to see if it's full of oil? Check shaftplay, etc. All the usual things to indicate if a turbo is blown.

this turbo is definatly gone its siezed, you cant hear it spooling and my hoses are I checked them when I put the turbo in. It is almost like when your wastegate arm falls off, symptom like that.

Have you taken the turbo off to see if anything fell inside? Did you prime the turbo before starting?

i have not yet taken a look at the turbo but its definatly not spinning, it sounded like the turbine flew apart and lodged itself in the 02 housing. I did prime the turbo before starting.

Before you install another turbo, you need to isolate what caused the last two failures. I'd replace the feed and drain lines to be sure that they're clear and see if you can identify any blockages in your old lines.

Good luck and let us know what you find,

Andy

i bought brand new inlet and dump lines before my 16g install, and today I tried to take it home and it finally started blowing oil, looked like somthin from a cheech n chong movie. It was burning oil like crazy so Id imagine it has good flow from oil, maybe I dropped a bolt down the dump tube or somthing??

Btw at hot cruising i get 35-60 psi oil pressure
WOT from 3k and above I get about 50-60 psi.
Brand new oil filter and oil.

Maybe an expert can chime in here, but I was under the iumpression that WOT oil pressure values should be MUCH higher than 50-60psi.

Talk about bad luck , i would suggest take the turbo off and check for play. If its broken time to buy the THE REAL 16g from sbr, extreme psi or wherever instead of ebay:p.... which i was about to do until people on here told me not to:thumb:

oh and I just thought of this, when I put my 14b back in I didnt adjust the mbc so I guess I was maxing the turbo out it was hitting around 19-21 psi. On the way home that day I raced some Honda and afterwards I noticed that my manifold temp was about 1,100 degrees, usually around 800 with the 16g. Now I know that egt's are way hotter than the actual manifold so is it possible that I overheated this turbo? Would it cause a failure like this?

Smooth move, did you even bother lookin at your boost gauge... 19-20 is WAY too much for a stock 14b. By the way did you at least win..and if its a honda i don't even bother its a waste of gas ;)

Where are you feeding oil from??? One of my old buddies blew two turbos within a short time like you with the oil being fed from the head. I told him to switch it to the oil filter housing and this 3rd turbo has been fine ever since.

absolutly annhialated the Honda :thumb: and I ran the 14b on my gst at 18 psi for months and months no problems at all. I heard of ppl running them at 20 psi all the time 2. Also Im running oil from the filter housing like before, but way back when I took the t25 off the hard oil line broke, so I went to napa and ran a brake line from the oil houing up to the turbo, then ran a braided hi temp hose from that to the turbo, also today I took the oil line off and ran the engine with it going back into the valve cover and it shot out oil like crazy so I think im getting good oil to the turbo. I think maybe Im chasing myself around in a circle here: first turbo failed because it was a piece of $hit and the 14b (if what you say is true about maxing it out) blew from overheat. It seriously ran for like 30 miles after I installed it, and after I raced this guy I turbo timed the car till the manifold read 500 degrees. Next day, got to work fine and back, that night started it up and heard that familier cckkkkkrrrrr ping ping the turbine wheel slapping around.....
