Intake Manifold Rattle - driving me crazy!

Hey everyone,

This seemed like a good newbie question, so I'm going to post it here...

I have this annoying rattle coming from my engine bay. It only happens when the RPMs hit 2500. At first I just figured it was a heat shield...but today I decided to inspect it because it's driving me crazy! The rattle noise sounds like it is coming from the intake manifold or right under it? Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing the noise? I don't know where to start.

There is a bracket on the backside of the engine that ties the intake manifold to the block for added support. Follow your vacuum lines to it. Have a look for loose bolts.

I think i know the knoise you are talking about. It sounds like it is coming from intake manifold but it might be your valve cover. To see if it is the valve cover just squeeze the rubber line that is attached to the top left of your valve cover. If the noise stops then it just means you have to much pressure in you valve cover and it is blowing it out this fitting.

I am in middle of rebuilding top end on my 93 talon, and there was a bracket under the intake, this is probably the problem.

Thanks for the replies! I'll take a look at it tonight when I get home from work. I'm hoping it's just the bracket you guys are talking about. Will I have to pull the intake manifold out to check?

i had a smular problem.. but the noise ended up being the fog lamp bracket... beieve it or not,that noise drove me crazy for weeks trying to pin point it . ..it would only rattle once every few days.,and not all the time..
