cp pistons, yes or no

I can get a set of CP pistons and eagle rods right know for an awsome price, 600$ CAN. I have heard that CP pistons slap a whole lot before they warm up and are more of a strip only type deal. Has anyone else heard this or know anybody who uses CP in DD? Any info is appreciated.

It's all in the machine work, if everthing is done right they shouldn't slap more than any other forged piston. They are very popular with Honda's and Supra's, check out some of those forums and you'll be more likely to find the information you are looking for. It sounds like a good deal though, I would do it if I was you.

Same here not too sure on the cp slap, but they are some really nice pistons.

I personally have CP pistons and Manley rods in my DD and the car is very very smooth. Honestly, with the build I currently have the car is much more smooth through the whole RPM range than it ever was.

Sorry for bringing up such an old thread. But I figured the responce would add some good info for anyone searching for CP Pistons in the future since theres very little info for this product on this site.

I have used CP pistons on my 500+ car that was stolen. I never had a problem with those pistons. They worked great. Just make sure that the machine shop does everything right. Tell them exactly what you are trying to do.

Yeah I know the thread is old but I also have done ton of internet reading and CP Pistons seems to be holding their own as far as reputation is concerned. I remember when you could get a set of cp pistons for relative cheap but no more The reason is they have gotten a reputation of being able to hold up especially in the rally all night driving torture, this is when cp realized just how good their piston was and raised the price But anyway , from what i have read, they are one of the best pistons on the market. Oh by the way the owner of cp pistons at one time worked for JE really don't know what position but anyway he decided to capitalize on their weakness and started a company (cp) that can offer a better piston at a better price and so far he has my vote

I Have cp pistions and eagle rods and i have no slap and ive never heard or cp's slapping. My motor runs great like mentioned before you just need the work to be done right and you should have no problems i think its a great combo.
