i havnt got my GST yet (should pick it up this weekend or next. but i noticed that that it was a harder to shift then the T56's, t45,t5 and such that im use to with mustangs and cobra's. but i know the T56 has a very notchy tranny. and to cure that alot of the guys would add 4oz of friction modifier. the "monkey piss" diff additive to there tranny. has any one tried this with the DSM trans yet? this also helps when shifting at the high RPM's that the cobra guys spin the 4V up to...

Derek

I've had very good luck with redline mt-90 in the dsm transmissions.

If everythings servicable in the trans, it provides nice shifting/good synchro action.

If you mean the shifter itself is hard to move, please disconnect the cables at the tranny, and try moving the shifter again. If'n it's still stiff, you may have some cable stiction issues.

its not that its "hard" to shift its just not as smooth as the mustang transmissions ive grown up on....

By nature, the DSM transmission is much stiffer than say a Tremec TKO or even the Borg Warner T-5 and T-56. You can try a fluid change to something like Synchromesh, but I actually prefer 75W-90 GL4 non-synthetic and it seems to work better in my trans than any of the synthetics.

Good luck with your new ride,

Andy

would running fluid that thick cause a hp loss threw rotaional drag?

Try a fluid change, I'd also recommend Redline mt-90. Also the Symborski Shifter Kit makes a world of difference. Welcome to DSM's :thumb:

The amount you'd lose from a thicker oil would be negligible and it's not anything you'd ever feel. It's kind of like the scenario about motor oil. You can make more power on 5W-30 synthetic than 15W-50, but would you rather have a bottom end that sees more efficient heat transfer and lubrication or shave .05 off your 1/4 mile times at the expense of durability?

I really wouldn't worry about it. Try a few things and see what works best for you.

ok cool... ill try that once i pick up the car. but as for the times in the qtr. strickly preformance found that there is about a .1-.2 in just the SAE50 synthetic used in the blowers. they started using WD40 before every pass. granted these were not street cars by any means
