Were did you buy your JDM engine

Id also like to know where/how much a "JDM"motor is, because my guess would be that for the price of that motor you could just go buy your self a decent 1gb awd:)

I have found the price to be between 1200.00 and 1500.00. Shipping to Arizona is 400.00. In Arizona a good turbo dsm will cost at least 3000.00. there are three in the auto trader for 3500, 4000 and 5200. I got mine cheap 1700.00 which is probably why I need a new motor and have replaced the ecu and tranny already.

The only difference I heard between the JDM and the USDM version, is the intake manifold. It only has about 35 more HP?

Jdm motors to me don't really do anything for us dsm guys like they do for the Honda guys. I think a jdm motor for a dsm is a waste of money, just rebuild your current engine.

He is right dsmers don't need a jdm motor, unless you just want to sound cool and say you have a jdm motor. To a honda it's a big difference to a nissan is like night and day. To us i think its just a motor with a few different things that already has around 40k on it.

What you should do is have some fun and rip your current engine apart to rebuild it yourself. You're gonna end up spending like 2000 beans to get that fancy "JDM" motor shipped to your door. Rebuilding your own engine is a blast, as long as your fairly mechanically inclined. I bought a good full rebuild kit off ebay with eagle rods and je pistons for 1200 bucks :thumb: Throw in another 400 to have your block hot tanked, decked, crank polished, cylinders honed and holes re-tapped and wham, you have a fresh motor to beat the piss out of.

I would never recommend anyone who doesn't have extensive mechanical knowledge to rebuild their own engine. There are too many minute measurements that 99% of people on this board don't have the capability to measure. If you want to rebuild your motor, get it done professionally. I bought my JDM motor from Tiger Japanese, but it came with a snapped BS belt and smashed intake valves, so I'm wary of recommending them. Go to RRE's site, and they have several JDM vendors listed somewhere, you can find the link at the VFAQ site. You could also take the route of buying a used motor from the classifieds here or elsewhere.

I know there is no difference between a usdm and a jdm 6 bolt 4g63t. Like i said in the beginning the motor has a hole in the piston thanks to the stuck waste gate on the turbo. I am getting the used jdm motor just to get the car back on the street, Then I will rebuild take my time building the current motor right. You see I am currently driving a 1979 Datsun 210 station wagon with 69 HP. You can see I need my DSM back.

You can buy a rebuilt engine from a reputable vendor and a Evo3 16g for the same price as a JDM engine, and have all new stuff. The JDM engines always have a ton of miles on them, and they are in pretty bad shape most of the time.

just find a 6 bolt, rebuilt-or low mileage, you can find them for like $600- you werent going to keep the stock turbo anyways.- go 6bolt/50trim/and have fun supporting your speed with the money you saved from going to Japan.

According to Turbo Magazine, a reputable source, these are all places with positive dealings across the states. I would recommend Noyland USA. You can go and pick out your motor if thats your flavor.
