this is possible right? I want to take my 14b thats in my garage and throw on a 7cm exhaust housing.

This would allow the car to not fall off so bad at higher boost levels right? I imagine it would perform like a 16g.

How many other ppl have done this?

NOt really.

The trim of the turbo would make it "not fall off" not a larger exhaust housing. A larger Exhaust housing will allow you to build boost faster and reduce lag.

It wouldnt perform like a 16g simply becuase a 14b cant out flow a 16g.

CFM rating on a 14b: 480
CFM rating on a small 16g: 520
CFM rating on a Big 16g: 560

I just ordered a Monster Turbine Housing for my 14b because i screwed up my stock one by trying to port my wastegate hole and install a new larger flapper. A 7cm will work good, i just ordered the little bit bigger one because it was $4 dollers more from MachV.com.

I always thought the 14b and the s16g were extremely similar the only real difference was the exhaust housing.

If this is true what would be gained if anything... top end/lowend/overall power

actually, the 7cm exhaust housing will slightly increase lag and slightly move the powerband up, consequently increasing topend somewhat. the turbo should hold more boost in the upper rpm's, but not much.

Trim has nothing to do with boost falling off. It's a ratio describing the relationship of the inducer and exducer of the wheel.

A larger housing will give you more lag and build boost slower.

Your 14b will flow more air with the 7cm housing and you will feel a gain throughout the entire range, Why because the 7cm housing will be like porting the heck out of your 14b. As long as your running 2G 02 housing or better you will deffenitley gain power. Before removing the turbine housing mark its positon with some white out that way youll know actually where to align your new one. When you get this swap done please lets us no the improvements.:thumb:

and porting the exhaust housing will increase this effect and it will hold boost even higher?

I dont care about lag

The 14b vs 16g is the copmpressor fins, they have the same turbine house. I upgraded from 14b to the 16g and the ex housing was the same.

couldnt have been a stock 14b.. there ex housing is a 6cm

What you all have to do to put a 7cm housing on a 14B? Is it just a direct bolt on or is there machining or anything that needs to be done? I guess I'm just looking for more information on this, did a search and didnt come up with much.

Im currently running a 16G hotside on my 14B, and it felt like my ported 14B hotside pulled harder. Im gonna have the 16G hotside ported and Ill take it from there.

How about boost creep? A friend of mine is having really bad boost creep with his 14b , he has 3" exhaust will the 7cm clear this up for him?

It's a direct bolt on(14b's and 16g's use the same exact turbine wheel) and there is a pin in the CHRA that only lets it bolt together one way.

Lag will be just a tad worse, but as stated the powerband will be shifted up a little higher and you'll probably be able to squeeze a little more from the tune by having less of a restriction. Much easier to max out the 14b compressor(~34lbs/min IIRC) with the 7cm^2 than the 6cm^2.

You can't port a 6cm^2 to 7cm^2, the difference is in the entire volute/scroll and you couldn't reach a carbide burr all the way through.

It will likely make creep worse since the restriction in the turbine housing makes exhaust WANT to flow out the wastegate hole and take the path of least resistance. A 7cm^2 will most likely make the turbine the path of least resistance.
