Ok i finally got my car going after been sitting for like 2 years, and heres the rundown on that story http://dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=228660.

Ok now i have a new problem. My car wont start. The symptoms are as follows: It does not turn over at all. All i get is a 'click' noise when i turn the key and thats it. The Needles and Radio have power when i put the switch to the normal turn, the one turn before the start up turn. The lights turn on ok, the Turbo Timer turns on ok, just when i try to turn it there is NO turn at all, only a click. So heres what i have checked so far:

-The Battery is Ok
-The Battery Cables are OK
-The Cables from the battery to the starter and alternator are OK
-The Alternator is OK
-The 'water' level is ok in the Battery

After checking these a local friend suggested it was the starter. Ok i went to the local Autozone and bought a Starter and threw that in and it still does the same exact thing!! I don't know what it could be please help!!

I know I always say this and it rarely has anything to do with the actual problem but with that being said it has worked for atleast two people that I personally know. Check that the clutch switch is engaging. Put the car in neutral, unplug or simply reach down and depress the switch with your hand, and try to start the car. If it works chances are the plug that engages the switch is gone. Put a zip tie through the hole to fill the gap and call it a day. Hope it is this easy for you.

Mike

Additional Info: Also when i roll start it, meaning when i push it leaving it engaged in 2nd and pop the clutch it starts and runs fine??

And i will try that mike be back in a few minutes

this is more of a add on then reply i just got a 98 talon that has been sitting for 7 years... i changed fluids battery etc... and the same thing when i turn the key i hea a click and thats it man im buumed about it if u fixed your problem or find out whats wrong could you let me know. thanx

Did you check your ground wires? Those are just as important as the power wires/cables. Check and clean them at the engine and battery. And what test did you use to make sure your battery is ok? I've seen batteries that have 12.6 volts but as soon as you load test them, they fall to 0volts.

Check the battery first (take it to autozone and get it tessted), and then I'd also check all the fuses and relays. Have you tried jump-starting the car?

Check to see if you are getting fuel and spark at startup. (compression + fuel + spark = startup)...to check the spark, do this (this is a "McGuiver" way to do it but it works): have someone inside the car and you unplug one spark plug wire from #1 cylinder (unplug it only from the head, NOT from the coil pack). Put the tip of the wire that connects to the spark plug close to any metal and have the other person try to start the car. If you see voltage between the metal and the plug wire, you have spark. If there is no spark, then check why don't you have spark at startup...make sure you don't electricute yourself.

new starter right? ok then. this isnt a complicated problem. you have power, just not enough to turn the car over. jump start. or charge your battery. or maybe a loose ground wire. highly doubt it though. let me know what happens.

also make sure your terminals are clean. no corrosion or anything. if you have corrosion on the terminals mix some baking soda and some water up and pour that on the terminals. then use sandpaper to grind the corrosion off.

ok thanx for all u guys help i got my car started yeahhhhhh.... but i have to adjust my linkage it will only start in neutral no other geat not even in park

He clearly stated he can jump start the car.. My friend had the same problem with his Celica... I just thought maybe its your ignition.. As in when you turn the key and nothing happens. Maybe your problem is somewhere there.. You said u had a Turbo Timer which mainly connects to a harness in the stearing column if Im not mistaken maybe something got messed up in there... You never know... and I am fairly new to these cars so not much I can do.
