ok I am installing my SAFC II on my 2g talon. In the directions its says Tap the knock wire to the ECU. But ECU what wire? I called a friend and he said that the 2g's dont use that feature. It that ture? I have tryed looking for it on the internet at VAFQ and other sites but found nothing. If someone can please help me. Thanks

We dont use it honestly. We do have a knock wire for our knock sensor but the AFC will only read phantom knock and thats it. Dont even bother with that wire. You can hear when the car is knocking and that is a more accurate way then with the AFC. Get a logger to tune with otherwise the AFC is useless. dont bother adjusting anything on the knobs without a datalogger.

a) if you can hear your car "knock" then you seriously have a problem. The metallic ping that the knock sensor picks up, is typically so low that you can not hear it but in the car it would be drowned by the exhaust, intake and turbo.

b) a logger is highly recommended with any sort of managment/ tuning. with a 2g and pocketlogger you can not record knock, but you can monitor timing. When you go WOT about 4K rpms, the timing should drop from 33 or so at cruise to 8-10 then slowly advance from there .

prostreets vfaq does use the knock sensor. Me I wouldnt use it either. on my car, any line (eletrical or vac) that goes to key sensor/ regulator, is not tapped or spliced into. But that is just me. BUT the wire you want to use on the 2G ECU is pin 78 as found here: http://www.plxdevices.com/ECUDatabase/Mitsubishi/MIT_ECL_EAG_TAL_2G.pdf again just for reference.

so will the a point in installing the knock wire? Will I get a reading? And will it help me at all? And what pocket logger setup do you recamend?
