so the other day i was drivin down the street and i heard something snap then my car was making a loud noise and i eventually came to a stop and it bogged the engine out completely and killed it... when all that happened the clutch sunk to the floor and stuck there... then i pulled it back up with my hand and then realized i could only push it half way down and it was stuck at like halfway and wouldnt go any further... after having it towed home i looked under the car and my slave cylinder was all bent out of shape and screwed up... it had the clutch fork pinned up against the side of the tranny and wasnt moving at all... so i took the 2 bolts off the slave and moved it and unpinned the clutch fork and i took my fingers and wiggled the clutch fork and i could wiggle it any way i wanted and i know its only suppost to go left to right to engage and disengage but it went up/down/left/right/ anywhere basically so its gotta be broken in there... i havent pulled out the tranny yet to find out if its the only thing that broke but i am pretty sure it is... heres my thing though... my car is AWD and i had a FWD tsi freshly rebuilt tranny sittin in my garage that is now blown a week after the rebuild but when it blew it just sheered all the gears and broke all that shit and the clutch fork is still perfectly fine and in tact... can i use the fwd clutch ford it does it differ between the awd and fwd... my guess is they would be interchangeable ### its inside the bell housing where u can get a aftermarket clutch and use with either fwd or awd or maybe im wrong... i just dont want to pull it out use it then get it back togeather to find out it didnt work so any help would be greatly appreciated from anyone... thanks guys and lemme know...

As far as i understand the clutch fork is different between the FWD and the AWD. I have the FWD turbo car as well as a non-turbo and when i ordered a clutch they sent me a clutch that was said to be for a turbo AWD and it did not work in my car. So either the company sent me the wrong clutch and had it labeled wrong or the two clutches are not interchangable. I would say look at your Chilton's Manual (hope you have one) and get the model number, then do a search online and see what you can find out. I have one for my non-turbo but not the turbo model otherwise i would just give you the number. If not you can always go to discount and buy it, they are reasonably priced.

FWD and AWD clutch is the same (interchangeable). Difference is in the flywheel ring gear diameter. Clutch fork is interchangeable as well.

It sounds like you have either snapped a clutch fork or your throwout bearing has disintegrated. Either way tranny has to come off.

Thanks guys i really appreciate the quick responses alright well the pulling of the tranny has to begin sometime... why not today right... LOL i am not looking forward to this at all... this will be like the fifth time... who knows what else i will find ill keep ya guys posted thanks again...
