I recently bought SeaFoam, and most people let it suck thru the "P" port vacuum line on the intake manifold..but there's nothing hooked up to mine  My friend's 97 GST has a vac line hooked up to his...I don't have any CELs. What gives? Some 1999 only thing?

Yeah, upon close inspection I don't even have the Purge Control solenoid WTF . Just the EGR and fuel pressure...the mount for the purge control is there but no solenoid...

Well you made me go to the garage and have a look :)

My 98 GST spyder auto does not have a P line either.

I just checked another friend's 98 GSX and he doesn't have it either. SO bottom line is 98 and 99 models do _not_ have this solenoid. Thanks guys. :dsm:

I was reading the huge post on Seafoam and how people suck it through the "P" port on their 2g TB's. I just happen to look at my TB the other night & I have no hose connected to the P port and there is no fitting to attach one (blocked, looks like factory). Mine is a 98, so is this something they changed one year? So what is the P port normally hooked to and what does it do? I remember looking at a buddies 97 last summer & I'm pretty sure we saw that I also had one less solinoid behind the intake manifold.

I have a 1g, but...

The P port is just used for the emissions stuff. I ended up pulling all of my unnecessary vacuum lines out, so I have all the ports plugged except for the P port, which I use for my boost gauge.

The P port takes you right behind the throttle plate, reason why it can be used for boost gauge source, it's also used when using seafoam because it enters the intake tract prior to the runners to evenly distribute seafoam. You can also use the pcv fitting but it enter each runner towards the end so you will miss the beginning of the runners.

Both my TB have a P port. The P port according to the RRE website has both boost and vacuum thus why is sucks the seafoam into the engine. Used for the EGR valve initally.

Im too slow and suck again.

Thanks for the link. I was looking at my caps program earlier and just entered the std info (no VIN #) & under the emissions there we 2 diagrams, one with the extra solinoid & P port & one without. The only thing I could think of is its a year thing or something for Cali emissions? I'm going to try entering my VIN & also the std info with Cali & see what I come up with when I get a chance.

So maybe I should start another thread but I'm going to get some of that Seafoam, so can I use one of the other ports on the TB? I know I can use the line that connected to the bov but I like the tb idea better as when I had my tb off this spring doing the shaft seals I found the intake mani to be full of crap & I think a port in the tb would do a better job of cleaning the intake mani.

Anyplace that sucks a vacuum could work. Where is your boost gague Tee'd at? FPR line. That could work. I dont know if anyone has done it tho?

Yes my boost gauge is t'd into the fpr but if I recall that line connects to the mani near the end, I'm looking for as close to the inlet as possible to get the best cleaning job. Thats why I was wondering about the other tb ports, E & A I believe. I can easily see if they have vacuum but do the both go into the tb (inlet) & if so on what side of the plate?

As a follow up, when I put my VIN number into CAPS it does only come up with one drawing for the emissions system and it is the one without the P port & 1 less solinoid. Mines Fed (not Cali).

So can anyone tell me where the other 2 ports on the TB go?
