SAFC or DSMLINK ? Help me decide

I just recently purchased a car on e-bay, and I'm going to pick it up this Saturday.

The car has Bigger fuel Injectors (720s) Godzilla 16g Turbo, GReddy FMIC, and some other mods.

My question to you guys is

The car comes with SAFC-I (not hooked up)
He said he had it hooked up at one time, but he couldn't tune it

Should I hook up the SAFC-I and get a pocket logger? For this I will need a PDA and a Hotsync cable...

Someone also suggested I would need an EProm ECU and it should be chipped for 720s...

So let's do some priceing....

PocketLogger $125

around 450-500 bucks..

DSMlink $500
My Laptop will need a new hard drive too...

I will need the Eprom ECU for both, right????

where and what chip should I get for the EPROM ECU?

What year(s) EPROM ECU will work for the car??

Which route would you go...

the car has no AFC tuning at all that I know of...
 
you don't need a Eprom ECU to use a AFC. The Only 2G Eprom ECU's were found in the 95 eclipses/talons. here is a link about a chip if you want it http://www.dsmchips.com/

Personally, I would hook up the AFC and buy a cheap pocketlogger and then move up to DSM link later if you have money to spare (since the AFC comes with the car)/ or are not satisfied with the AFC. You can get a PDA, software, cable and everything you needto log off ebay for around 100$... atleast for a 1G anyways, not sure about the 2G.
 
SAFC and DSM link are two seperate tuning methods though.
SAFC is more of a baseline idle/wot/knock/injector tuning, whereas DSM link you can adjust throttle position, take control of each injector, set RPM points and do hundreds of other things. It is far more advanced.
For general tuning and things like that the SAFC as well as a MAFT are coherent in applying your tuning to your vehicle. They are still wonderful I am not dissing anything. I run a MAFt myself, but dont have it all hooked up yet. good luck guys.

$27 total for a Palm Pilot from Ebay and $510 shipped for ECU+..that's a lot cheaper than DSMLink will cost you.

What's wrong with your laptop's harddrive??

But DSMLink is so much powerful, and have some many options you can use. If it was me I would get DSMLINK. But if you don't want to waste alot of money now get a logger and hook up the S-AFC for now. Then move onto DSMLink

Both are great products, it all depends on how far you plan on taking your car and if you have the money for it. If you have the money for DSMLINK thats the way to go, you have way more options then an afc.
 
How does the car even run with the 720 injectors. The S-Afc should be fine but the best tunning device that you could get is DSM Link for this car, but it is expensive and you already have the safc. Its your choice but if I could spend the money I'd go with the DSM Link.
 
Here is my plan....

I found a guy on IRC, He's giving me

95 EPROM ECU, Socketed
Comes with 2 chips, stock chip and a chip for 720cc injectors w/ ALL options on it...
He's also giving me a PALM PDA III, stylus
PocketLogger, Hotsync cable

So that's everything I need and he's giving it to me for $350 Shipped.

Sounds like a damn deal to me, that way I can hook up S-AFC and get this car running properly.



as for dsmlink, it will come in time...
 
Eventually, My laptop needs a new hard drive... and I need to obtain DSMlink then sell the safc, its just getting enough money together to purchase DSMlink
