I plan on running a 16g with 550s or 660s and a walbro 255. Which one of these is right for me?

MAFT Pro allows you to do what older MAFTs and SAFC can't do: run speed-density setup with no MAF at all. I would def. invest in that, considering cost will be inthe ballpark of older MAFT + SAFC + GM MAF.

The only worry i have with the maft pro is that not too many people have it so there is not a lot of info out there on how to tune it right. I am not too experienced in tuning so I dont know if i will be able to figure it out on my own.

No your maf-t will do what the safc can do, just not as fine. So you can get away with running just the maf-t and 3" - 3 1/2" sensor.

Why not go with ECU +? Takes out the need for the MAF translator, allows you to adjust timing, lets you compare graphs, scale for different size injectors with the click of a button. The features are endless LOL.

ECU+??WTF you can do all that??? Ihavent heard anything about that, can you please tell me more price, where to get it, how hard tunning, etc etc!! thanks!

Thats their web page. You can look at it all there and even download the software. Try it out. I realized I will go with SAFC II for now and then when I have money get DSMlink (only when i have money to dynotune it). I think ECU+ is an excellent choice and is pretty cheap. I wold get that but I think I will wait for DSMLink V3 or the MAFT Pro to get mainstream.

The main issues are timing control, and injector deadtime calculation.

According to Maftpro website:

Spark timing Low load (idle, cruise)
Spark timing High load (high load, WOT)
Spark timing only available for certain application and additional software may be needed

... so you'll have to find out about that. I do like the speed density option... but if you like speed density, look here.

ECU+ has timing control so that when you compensate for larger injectors and end up on a higher timing than you should be you can scale the timing back.

SAFC and MAFt combo does not do that. I think having the MAFt and safc is a little redundant.

Neither control deadtime issues. So it will much more difficult for the average tuner to get a good streetable tune with injectors over 650cc... So in that aspect, you are limited to 650cc injectors if you're a typical tuner and want a daily driver.

On a side note, DSMLink addresses the timing and deadtime problems, has more features than either, and can run injectors so large that even timing changes with the ECU+ won't be able to remedy. It doesn't fool your ecu. It makes it smarter. The difference in price is the cost of an eprom ecu($150-$200).

Sorry for straying, but I had to add this in as a worthwhile option, clipse0001. The more you know the better a decision you can make. What are your ultimate goals? Buy right, buy once.

Thanks. You explain it really well. I got a really good deal on an SAFC yesterday so I will stick with that untill i get money for DSMLink or something. MAFTPro is too new for me to mess with. Plus at least untill summer I will not be running over 650cc so SAFC will work for now. I can always sell it.

+1 to you and you should def do a writeup about the different tuning methods. You explain it really well.

Maft pro seems the way to go but i still havent seen anyone running it and prasing it.ill guess ill be one of the guinea pigs ill do a full review as soon as i get it.Im not going to the track unless its working 100%(too much money in motor)
