i feel really stupid because i have no clue what is wrong with my car. it wont start, when you turn the key and hold the clutch in it makes no sound. when you let off the clutch while holding the key you can hear the relay click. the battery is good, all connections seem clean. if you push start the car it starts. its a 90 tsi. if you can please help.

unplug your clutch safety switch under the dash, and see if you can start it (make sure it's in neutral).

I've got it unplugged on both of my cars, partly because i'm lazy, and partly because it reduces thrust bearing wear when you start the motor cold- (no oil pressure) with a big heavy clutch.

Anyhow, if your starter isn't doing anything I'd give that a shot because it's cheap and easy to try, and see if it's something simple. After that, you need to chase down a multimeter, and start going through the starting system.

Sounds a lot like a bad starter, Double check your battery cables and try jumping it just because

the clutch switch is new and the parts store said the starter was fine.
anyother ideas?
