I have a set of eagle h beam rods, is there a specific direction to install these? Do the numbers or letters have to be facing a certain way?

Yes I know that the stock rods and pistons are directional, but as for eagle I'm not sure, but if the stock ones are the aftermarket ones should be the same way. Do you have any documentation that came with these rods? If so your answer should be in there.

I doubt the rods will be directional but is possible so double check. If they are directional then there usually are markings of somesort to indicate which way. If you cant find any documentation or markings saying then try refering to their website or call/email them for a definate answer. :laser:

It doesn't say anything about which way they go...theres a couple markings; on one side of the cap is says XY and on the other side is a cerial #, I think. I cant really rememder, sice I don't have either the spec sheet or rods in front of me.

If you can find any documentation it should tell you, the "xy" should be to recodnize which way the caps go but not the rod. its possible to have markings on the bottom of the cap such as an arrow. otherwise try e-mailing the manufacturer for a definate answer

The bearing locking tangs should be located in the same direction as the stock rods. I cant tell you which way that is because I dont have one close to me. They are directional and need to go in the same as stock rods.

And please people, dont guess on issues like this. If you dont know, dont add to the thread.

If it makes you feel anybetter, I thought about the same thing. Eventually got in touch with an Eagle rep and this what was explained to me. (Keep in mind,my set is full floating). "The rod direction is not orientated in any particular way. Radius on the big end is the same on both sides. Pin oil feed is on both sides as well as the top."

This sounded correct to me as usually rod orientation is dependent in a shared journal situation, such as a V8, as the radius cut is different, and the bearings are most often set more to 1 side than the other.

I did put them in with the serial# side foward just to make it easier to keep straight in case I ever choose to roll the rod bearings with the motor in the car, and not mix up any caps.

8000 miles, and on average about 6-10 8000rpm a week pulls later and all is good.

so from what you quoted ^^^it doesnt matter which way, right. Im gonna put them all facing the same way, like yourself.
