should i take my car to get tuned @ a shop? if so does anyone know of a shop around Louisiana that can dyno tune my car? or even better i know there arent many of us in New Orleans but is there a shop or even someone with more experience than me to fine tune my car?

all i got is a MAFT.
i know i should prry get a S-AFC

but im holding out to get maybe a dsmlink would that be the best solution?

If you aren't very experienced with tuning I wouldn't suggest tuning it yourself... If you don't mind driving a bit Thunder racing has an excellent shop http://www.thunderracing.com/shopservices/ They're in Baton Rouge. Basically they have experienced tuners, a good dyno and excellent prices, BUT they mainly deal with domestics. Still I'd suggest givin em a call to see what they could do for you.

If you are looking to step up to a system like DSMLink, I would recommend another option for you. It is called ECU Plus. This system does everything that the DSMLink can and more. It also has a built in MAF-T so you can sell you current unit and put the money towards it. It is very user friendly and the developer is constantly adding new features. For a full list of the current features check out his website www.ecuplus.com/features.htm I am a huge fan and have been using this system on my cars for a while now and I cannot praise it enough. If you would like more info PM me.

the only problem with ecu+ is that like an afc or maft it is a piggyback system. the ecu+ just tricks the computer into doing what you want it to. with dsmlink it tells the computer what to do, it doesnt trick it into doing what you want it to. but for people who dont already have an eprom it is a pretty nice setup, but i dont think its worth 200 more than a safc2. thats just my $.02.

Yeah, but for someone who wants a blow through setup MAFT + SAFC + logger is almost the same price as the ecuplus.

You drive a hard bargain if you percieve the ECU+ as a poor value over the SAFC. It has so many features for the price there isn't anything that can touch it, especially if you don't have an Eprom ECU. It is a plug n play system, no chip service or downtime required. And if you compare dollar to dollar to the competitors for what it does, it is a great buy! Also tell me what the actual problem is by "tricking the ECU" we like to call it substitution of data to the ECU by the way. Both methods get the job done, each does it a different way, that is the only difference.

well when you "substitute" data you end up with crazy timing advance. im not sure how the ecu+ can controll this but i personally would prefer to just tell the ecu this is this and heres how you calculate the map. but its all up to the individual. im sure for some it would be a great investment, but for others like myself who do have an eprom and dont like tricking the ecu dsmlink is the way to go.

Well you are sort of right, you do get a bit of timing advance by altering the MAS signal but not "crazy advance". In fact the slight amount of advance in the curve that you get only helps make more power. The amount of advance will vary depending on how much offset you make ot the signal but I am using 780cc injectors and I end up with 21 degrees of total advance at WOT at 7200 RPM, which I don't believe is crazy. And you can tune the timing curve if you get knock at any point, so again there is no disadvantage by substituting data.

If you would have come along like 1 WEEK earlier dam you. How much is ecu plus and how can I get it cause I will sell my eprom ecu for 300 and this will cost me next to nothing compared to dsmlink or aem ems and so plenty in my book.

Back on the original topic...

1. Unfortunately, the closest AWD dyno is in Houston. No place around here can help unless you want to drop your t-case and take it to Gerhardt's on Central Ave. They've got a 2WD dyno there.

2. An SAFC will aid in fine tuning the MAFT.

3. I'm debating on the DSMLink or the ECUPlus myself, but I'll probably get an AEM UEGO before I get either of those.

yueah i decided im going to go with the ECU+ and a new turbo then drive it out to Hotlanta to the guys from twisted tunning they were recomended to me by darren from FFWDConnection.
