loud knocking

ok there is a loud knocking noise coming from the engine(drivers side i think) at higher rpm only when im pushing on the gas hard, i tried just putting the rpms high and not putting the engine under a load to see if there was any odd noise, and no there wasnt. im probably going to get it checked out friday by a mechanic if i cant figure this out myself. any ideas?

well ive done some research and im thinking it has something to do with the balance shaft?

You might be having a problem with crankshaft thrust bearing failure. Whoever you have check out your ride tell them to check the crankshaft end play for you and make sure that it's within spec.

Knocking of the balance shaft will be most prominent near the number one and number 2 cylinders on the back of the block. I've only seen a couple, but they do make you wonder for sure. Crankshaft end play will probably have to be measured by machinist.
