Hello everybody. On Tuesday I will be driving 5 hours to New Jersey to pick up the car I just bought. It's a 1995 Talon TSI AWD, 5-speed, black with grey interior. I am extremely excited to be in another great DSM.
My first car was an automatic eclipse GS-T, then I went a different way with a non-turbo Mitsubishi 3000GT, which was quicker than alot of people think. It handed my eclipse GS-T its ass. However, not much potential for that thing. So I am back.
I won this car on e-bay for $5,600. It has 78k miles on it. Car looks to be in great shape, clean carfax, seems like a good guy who owned it previously.
When I bring it home I am going to get an oil change, and all that stuff. I am also going to look into replacing the timing belt. Can anyone tell me where I can get the best deal on that? Are there any other reccomended things to do maintenance-wise? Before you point me to the FAQ I looked there already, and have noted those suggestions. I just want to know if there is anything else.
If you're in the DC area let me know and we'll meet up sometime. I love meeting up with other car enthusiasts. I met quite a few people when I had my 3000GT through the 3000GT forums (3si).
Sorry for the long thread but like I said I'm extremely excited. :thumb:

If you want to go cheap on the timing belt, you can get a contitech for about $25, just do an online search. google.com

You can get OK pricing on OEM stuff here: www.mitsubishiparts.com

I hope the car turns out as good in person as it does online. I would be scared to buy a car off of ebay, especially a DSM. I did sell a Pontiac Formula on ebay, and gave someone a good deal, so it gives me some comfort in the idea. I live in Washington the guy that bought it from me is in florida.

Well let us know how it goes. Good luck on the drive back. Check the oil and fluids before you head back with the DSM, oh and check the tire air pressure, with AWD, they need to be all 4 the same ;)

I picked up the car today and I love it. It did great on the 5 hour drive home. No strange noises, and the turbo spooled up nicely. :thumb:
Only a couple problems. When I have the headlights on and I turn on the right turn signal, if I push the handle a tiny bit farther, all the lights go off. It's hard to explain, that's the best I can do, LOL. Any ideas?
Also, there is a big hole where the cd player should be. What the hell. it was shown in the picture on e-bay and the car was as-is so we e-mailed him and I assume he owes us a cd player. If you are wondering why we didn't ask while we were there it is because the actual owner wasnt present, he had a friend give me the keys and collect the money. You would think that if you buy a car you would at least meet the owner, LOL.
Oh yeah, and the horn doesn't work.
Other than that the car is great. It even has an aftermarket exhaust on it, which was a surprise to me, i thought it was stock when I bought it. The exhaust sounds great!!!! :thumb:

Any locals want to meet up?????
