Ok , first off i have a 99 GS http://www.dsmtuners.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=500&ppuser=51966

and well i have a question

How good will a Star/hahn kit fit, and how well do they help the car with mid boost range
im just wondering, im more into the 3/S , but since i got this car, it jsut needs more power, please give me some good answers thanks!

Oh and whats the HP range with the turbo on the car.
220-275 before it needs internals?? thats what i heard, but i just want to make sure, thanks

I'm thinking of doing the same thing. Where are you planing to buy your kit and for how much? Ive seen them for like $3,000 but I was wonderin if you have seen them any cheaper. Also how many miles do you have on your engine, I have a lot so I'm debating doing it.
:dsm:

43,000 miles on my motor , and ive seen the stage 1 kits for about 2400-2800 , not sure tho , 3k about the right price. - but if you want the stage 2 its worth the the extra 500 bucks.. peace

Check out www.conceptillusions.com they have a kit for 1300$
Also GsGoinfast(Wiseman) has a writeup in the tech articles for a custom kit for a 1G$ give or take a few bills, you have to gather the parts though.
And last read through N/T turbo conversion forums lots of info on Hahn/Star kits.
Later :talon:

Thanks for the link, I checked it out and that price is alot better than some of the other places, but is it worth getting? Since its almost $2,000 less than some of the other turbos is it good or will it just break/require for money than a Hahn/Star kit in the long run?
Thanks :dsm:

Here's a novel idea that will serve you well in the future, regardless what DSM board you're visiting, learn how to use the search utility. This subject has been discussed numerous times all over the place. The answers to your questions have already been posted time and again. If you took just 15 minutes to use the search, you would have all the info you need to make a relatively informed decision, pal.

Posting such a common question without actually looking to find the answer will not get you much help at all. Sorry. Fact of life.

Rookie Members can only post in this forum. They cannot post in the N/T forum. I agree with the searching since any question you have will already have been answered somewhere on this forum. However, if you cannot find the answer you're looking for them please, ask. Don't let people getting on you refrain you from posting.

I know that, but I see the blind leading the blind in this thread and I was just trying to point them to where we keep the flashlight around here. LOL!

is that flashlight solar powered? ROFL

if u want a solid turbo setup, just sell ur gs and pick up a turbo stock one, ud be better off because you wont have to fiddle around installing the kit or paying a lot of money getting it installled

Sweet how when you ask a question people bi*** that you didn't use the search utility....I understand that your just "trying to help" but if you see a topic that someone already opened why not post on it?

Anyway, thanks for the help, I'm thinking of selling my car to try to get a gst/gsx anyway. Its just a pain to find one around here. And next time (like I usually do) Ill search.

This thread was actually quite laid back. "Bitching." Pffft.

Simple. Those of us who've owned our NTs for almost a decade now are tired of being lumped in with a bunch of lazy high school kids who just picked up a 2GNT because they're becoming more affordable. The same kids who don't bother to look up anything and just post the first half-assed thought that comes to their feeble, MTV-addled minds. This general lack of effort and the quick downshift to whining when someone suggests they actually do something for themselves drags us all down by association. Why not post in it? Because we have posted on it. And posted on it. And posted on it.

I will admit, your comments show a bit more knowledge than the other guy, but still, if you had spent any real time searching, you would have known that there really isn't any problem with boosting your 150k+ mi 420a on stock internals if the engine is still healthy and you can tune your system with the skill of a one armed monkey. Obviously, after you search, you have to actually read through the findings.

Doesn't matter to me, though. Whatever.

Ouch, some people are so harsh. Its just funny how with all of these posts so "full" of knowledge, not one person that posted has a 420a-t. All these people that say just sell the RS for the gst... that is getting just as old as seeing threads like this.

my .02 is, if you love your car, and your up for the work, through the turbo on your 420a. Its a lot of fun and you get a lot of respect for doing it. But you also gotta think about how hard of a process it can be and its very time consuming and money consuming to get it done. (unless your gs goinfast). If your goal is something smaller like 250whp or so, then why not?

Just to make this clear, im by no means saying that turboing the 420a is a better idea than owning a 4g63t nor am i sayin the 420a is a better motor. Im just sayin i love my 420a-t, i know people that have a gst/gsx, and as much as i love the awd, i still love the idea of the rsturboed. sorry such a long post. just my .02

Since when is owning a boosted 420A a requirement for knowing anything about building or tuning one? The last time I helped a friend install an HRC system on a third guy's (who had no idea what he was doing) car, we had it in and running in about 5 hours. It's not rocket science, after all. Some of us DSMers would just like to see the bar raised in our community.
