ok i am going to get a new clutch for my car. i was wandering which one i should go with. i was thinking of the act 2100. Dont think i want the 2600 because it is a daily driven car and will only go to the track a couple times a year. if there are some other brands you all would suggest let me know. i want a good streetable clutch for a cheap budget.

i have a 6 bolt block in my 96gst. balanced and blueprinted with balance shafts removed. 1g big rods on 2g pistons. thermo and teflon coated pistons. Fp big 16g turbo and that is about it for now. but i plan more in the future..

FWD only needs a 2100. You are going to spin the tires some no matter what with the FWD so you dont need the 2600.

ok now im confused. im getting different stories. i think i am going to go with the 2100 because of it being a daily driven car. i dont feel like doing calf raises in trafic.

I have a 2100 and love it. ALot more grabby than stock but not much more pedal pressure.

LOL! This is getting interesting because I have a ACT 2600 and love it.
People say that it is so much harder and it is hard on the calf, but I don't think it is bad at all. Get a stainless steel clutchline and remove the clutch fluid resevoir (sp?) while your at it and it isn't really that stiff.

It was pretty stiff the first week or so but loosened up nicely and I just put the car in neutral when at a red light or stop sign. I would recommend the clutch to anyone....it was like driving a totally different car. The power transfer is great, I couldn't believe how much was being lost through the stock clutch.

You might have a hard time finding one now though...the shop where I got mine said that they have been on back order ever since I got mine installed.

2100, especially since you're fwd

i'm running that same clutch in my awd for more than 2 years now and it's takes 6000k launches every weekend like nobody's business ;)

The 2100 should do in a FWD. The launches will simply spin the tires. The time that you are really abusing your clutch is when you are in 5th gear and floor it....This is when the clutch is going through the worst and the tires don't have enough torque on em to spin. If you are going to keep it under 350 ftlbs the 2100 should be fine for you.

On the other side I just got the 2600 installed and it is just fine. The pedal isn't that hard at all (I am 6'1" 200lbs mostly legs tho) even tho I have nothing but the stock setup. You may want to replace the stock rubber pad on the clutch pedal tho because it is slippery as hell when wet.

ACT 2600 will take the required slipping to get a FWD off the line much better than an ACT 2100. Unless you have a 6 puck disk :) but I wouldn't recommend that for a FWD. Get the 2600 and a stock 95+ disk and TOB and you'll be happy.

I have a stock 98 GS and I'm looking to upgrade when I replace my clutch later on. Which manufacturer do you suggest? I need something that wont damage any of my other stock drivetrain parts. I've been directed towards ACT, but I'd like some feedback. Thanks.

I run the ClutchMasters Stage 4 in my turboed 420A. I like the clutch and all but it can still slip on occasion due to the small friction areas. So slipping the clutch should be a very limited action. This clutch seems to me to be more of a dump the clutch and mash the gas sort of affair. Pedal feel is softer than stock which was very surprising. I think if I had to go with another clutch it would be the Stage 3, but we will see if I still think that after I get a built bottom end.

I heard that ACT makes a clutch for our cars now. That might be another very good option.

Good luck!

i know this is going to be a very contraversial topic but i hope you guys can help me make a educated choice. I have a 1995 eclipse gs-t and i have notice that the clutch is starting to go, so you know what that means. Performance clutch. But the question is which clutch. I want a good clutch that can handle about 500 whp. I plan on getting an agp l2r in the near future so i need sumtin that can handle this power. I would have just jumped right into act 2600 or sumtin simular but im scared of crank walk. If i remember correctly i have read sum where that the 2600 is more prone to walking then say a clutchmaster. Now lets not turn this into a flame war post but just come on tell me what you think and make a positive contribution for me.
