Overbore debate

Me and my buddy are having disagreement over cylinder overbore. He says that you will gain more horsepower with a .040 Overbore because the engine will have increased diplacement and you will notice it i say you will not notice a difference I do realize you might gain a few horse but not enough to notice. Does any one on here have any hard numbers as to how much each overboare after standered .020 and .040 would increase horsepower. Also how much horse can you expect to gain by having a 1G head ported and polished.

that kind of boring is only for renewing the cylinder walls, not for gaining any horsepower, so you actually wont gain any horsepower at all from boring .020 or .040 over stock. dont bore to .040 right off unless you have to for some reason, all you will do is junk the block for future boring.

I think the motor will have a little bit more compression but I don't think you will really feel a noticable difference.

If you search you'll discover this has been hashed over many times, the bottom line is your talking about a weed wackers worth of displacement and about that much power increase.
