caluper freezing

i have a chace to pick up a 91 tsi but it had a smashed door, and the driver side caliper is frozen. he is selling the car for 1000 bucks maybe less. but what would it take to get the caliper unfrozen just to buy a new caliper assembly.

By "caliper" I assume you mean a brake caliper? There are alot of possible reasons why it could be stuck. However, If you had to replace it, its a very easy job. Don't let that be the reason you dont get the car

Well the easiest thing to do is take the caliper off and place a new one on. The pistons in the caliper could have gotten dirt or something, or stuck after an emergency lock up. I wouldn't let the caliper part discourage you, the door being smashed is another thing. If the rest of the car is low milage, mint the price seems fine, but if not talk him down because of the damage since apparently you are going to pay for the repair.

yea by we found out today that with the door and the caliper* car needs paint and a new trans (doesn't go into first) so we decided not to buy it and im still shopping around ne one know of ne dsms for sale in illinois. let me know please thanks '

Not in the area, but check out Forced Performance they are selling their shop car for like 7K and it is pretty well built, some cosmetic dings, but nothing too bad.

AWD? Looks like a pretty sound deal, if you don't mind how much is this guy asking for it? Good luck with this car, it would be an excellent purchase.
