Help with ss braided hose fuel line

With the tape on, I couldn't get that sucker in there. So, I tried it with the tape off, and no luck. Anything else?

It was precut, and already taped when I got. All smooth, but it seemed as though the tape was too thick so it wouldn't fit in.

When i did my fuel system (-10AN feed -6AN return) I found the best way to do it was to wrap the line with masking tape a few turns, cut it with a cutoff wheel in my die grinder, then VERY CAREFULLY remove the tape. Then take the hose, put it in a vice with a rag wrapped around it, and use a plastic hammer to drive the red nut all the way onto the hose. Then shoot a little oil on the threads of the blue part and on the barb of the blue part and assmble. There should be no more than .030" clearance between the red part and the blue part once its all assembled.
