what happened

Hey I check out my air fuel gauge because it was stuck on the green led, well the signal wire was detached so I hooked it back, now the gauge seems to be acting weird it will only give a reading when on the gas and some times does not even do that, yes all wires a connected good ground, power and signal from both the gauge and ecu. I have not driven the car only sat and reved it, also I only touched the top plug in the ecu and now it seem like the idel does not want to sit still (like idel surge) could I have touched something or unplugged something will I was working down there I only removed the top ecu plug to tap it for the a/f gague signal help me please, thanks.

Hows the o2 sensor? Could be bad and maybe its not the gauge at all..Other than that...Just recheck your wiring...

I had a similar thing happen with my disco light gauge. It started acting weird and then pretty much sat at lean. I then replaced the o2 sensor and everything was good again. Hope this helps.

front o2 sensor is new do I need to replace the one way in the back?

Well the rear O2 sensor has nothing to do with your A/F gauge. The rear O2 is only in place to make sure the catilytic convertor is working. Your gauge doesn't read that one at all. To make sure your front O2 is working, hook a voltmeter up to it and rev the engine. It should normally jump around between 0.00v and 1.00v. If your front o2 is working, trace the wiring from the source back to the gauge. Sometimes something might get crossed.
