will getting a palm pilot and the right pieces to hook it up my 1g n/a will geive me the ability to turn my chck engine light off and give me what the codes are.

Which program are you referring to? Any of them will turn off your CEL and check the code for you, but the difference is in how many samples per second the program will record for your individual engine perameters....only a big deal if you want to be doing hard core tuning or not. Make sure the unit you are getting is made for a 1g DSM OBDI system. Pre-OBDII systems weren't all the same, so you need to get a 1g DSM specific unit.
